It wouldn't be the first time the schedule has been changed. It was changed from 5 years to 3 years between the 21st and 22nd tournaments, after all.

If the 24th budokai did happen three days before the arrival of the androids... it seems entirely likely that it would have been forgotten pretty immediately in favor of the apocalypse; so yeah, it's entirely possible that everyone just forgot about the 24th because there was so much other stuff happening.
At any rate, it seems implied in the series that the 24th happened if not before Cell, in that general timeframe; one of the reasons calling the Buu tournament the 25th confuses me...

(On that note, what tournaments did we see after the 25th? Which did Uub fight in, which were in GT, etc?)

And, when did Goku die in Trunks' timeline?

Doesn't Videl state that it's been 7 years since the 24th, though? At the very least she says its been a very long time. I don't see 3 years, the minimum, being a long time.
