It depends on the wording again, I don't think we're supposed to take the phrase completely literally. In the phrase 'between life and death', I've always thought the death part was more than just dying. It refers to the whole process of death, which under normal circumstances includes going to the afterlife.

In that case, the person's life has ended but they haven't moved on 'into death' yet, if you see what I mean.

Well done Herms. Also, nice touch on the "you can quite literally go to hell." :P

But that's not the case in DB mythology. In DB, the afterlife really is just another place in Existence; it's the Cosmos. There isn't really an afterlife in terms similar to Judeo-Christian belief: Heaven and Hell are just other places in the Cosmos, like Earth and Namek. Even traversing from Universe-Cosmos doesn't apply as being "part of the process of death," as it's possible to traverse them while still being alive and dead.

What would Uub be, given that he's a reincarnation of a Majin?

Yes that's a nice analysis you've given. Demons and devils are always mentioned in DB, you have to ask yourself how many devils and demons can there really be? The demon realm, where Dabura is supposed to come from is what confuses me, because Hell is under Snake Path, and Enma didn't want to send him there, so sent him to heaven, but the place that Kaioshin refers to isn't the same Hell. So the whole existence of this realm just baffles me. It would have been interesting to hear more about it in the manga.

Well, Enma probably didn't want to send Dabra to Hell because it's similar to the Demon Realm, since they're both evil places where devils and demons reside.

The guides explain that the demon realm is the flip-side of the mortal universe, a place that even the Kaioshin can't see into, which is governed by the Makaio and Makaioshin. I too would like to have seen it in the story.

When it says 'can't see into' I take it that means they can't see what' happening there...even though they are the supreme Gods of the non-demon realm, that would mean the demon realm Dabura is from has their own form of Kaioshin, the Makaioshin (as you said). I wonder how Babidi managed to go from realm to realm then. Maybe there were beings even stronger than Dabura there, since Kaioshin can't really know much about this side of the universe, it must only be his assumption that Dabura was the King-pin of the demon realm.

Well, Bobbodi's a magically powerful madoushi himself, having amassed so many strong opponents across the universe. This feared even Kaioushin. Perhaps Bobbodi and/or his father, Bibbidi, had dealings with the Makaiou and Makaioushin, like he's the evil version of Uranai Baba (who escorted the dead to and from the afterlife, and I suppose Enma and/or others may've even used her to tell the future).

In fact, I think someone even had a theory that Bibbidi may've had the Makaiou or Makaioushin "help" him in "accidentally" creating Majin Boo (I'm not sure if it's just Viz or the original too that says it was an experiment), and this is the reason why Vegetto defused inside Boo's body: because the Makaiou/Makaioushin magic, which is the opposite of Kaioushin magic, canceled out the magic of the Potara.

Oob is Boo reincarnated as an Earthling, so presumably he'd just be considered an Earthling. The title of DBZ episode 290 calls him a "former majin", for what it's worth.

Kaioshin says Bibidi created Boo "by chance/by accident" (guuzen kara).

OK then, thanks.

Another great guide, Hermes! It was a good read, I especially liked the entry on Makai (I really like Makai).
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!
