I've always wondered why Toriyama decided to retcon Goku's age. The only thing I can think of is maybe he thought 14 was pushing it in terms of being able to show Goku naked... but then again, I don't believe you ever see Goku naked after the moment he reveals he's 12.

When he reveals that he's really 12, Bulma makes some comment about how she knew he couldn't have been 14 because he didn't even "have any hair", which I'm pretty sure refers to...well, you know.

Well, it's not as if Toriyama ever cared about his characters looking anatomically correct in proportion to their age. Take Chi-Chi, for example. She's 12, but still looks prepubescent, while having breasts. And besides, Goku's still a shrimp and doesn't even look like a teenager when he's 15 at the 22nd TB.

And I remember another instance in a Bra thread about a Dr. Slump character who was supposed to be 16, but looked much younger.

That's probably Peasuke, who's that age by the end of the series I think. Some DB fan seeing him in the DB/Slump crossover thought that he was a toddler. The joke is that he's incredibly short for his age, and never gets taller even as an adult. Besides being short, it doesn't help that he always wears a very childish cat ear hat.

Arale and Obotchaman are also both short for their (supposed) age, but that's because they're robots who never age, and because Senbei naively passed Arale off as a 13 year old at the start of the series. And also because Arale actually gets substantially shorter as Toriyama's drawing style changes over the course of the series.

I don't think anyone was ever really arguing anything to the contrary. What I said was a joke in response to what Herms said (note the little laughing man at the end). But there has to be some reason why Toriyama randomly decided to shave two years off of Goku's age, be it fear of showing someone who would be close to entering puberty naked, fear of having his main character grow up too fast, a REALLY long setup for an only mildly funny counting joke, or maybe, just maybe trepidation at showing Bulma's mention of hair down there.

Yeah, you're probably right. Perhaps Toriyama did just think that 14 was too old for Goku's appearance. I don't think he was scared about showing someone close to puberty naked, though.

And the whole thing about not seeing Goku naked after the Pilaf battle when he's still 12...I think that's just because the series was maturing by then. We didn't see Bulma's bare breasts anymore either.

Don't know if this counts but i Drove/Scared away someone by interacting with a Dragonball Episode. It was the point in the episode where Goku and Yajarobi were doing Rock, Paper, Scissors to see who got to fight Symbol and Symbol said "what are you two doing?" then i yelled "They are deciding who gets to eat you", lol.

While its not a fan statement and more a case of "Did not do the research" ,today I read trough a magazine and it also had the Tv-program of the following week in it and Dragon Ball is currently aired here again.The brief summary of the episode where Goku goes chasing after Tambourine said :" Oh no, Krillin has been mudered.Son Gou finds out who was behind it- It was Emperor Pilaf" (I knew it :O) while its technicly true as Pilaf freed Piccolo its still a stretch

Funny thing about the whole Spawn talk, I actually few years back used to be very vocal of how I thought the guy who played him in the movie would be perfect to play Piccolo in a live action DBZ movie. Especially since he knows martial arts.

On-topic, while not the craziest thing I heard, after seeing early DB eps, including a filler where Goku pat-pats Namu, my cousin who was a big Goku fan declared, "I don't like little Goku! He's stupid!"

Broly was portrayed as being much more powerful than Vegetto. A restricted SSJ Broly destroyed the Southern Galaxy and threatened the Northern Galaxy. An unrestricted LSSJ Broly is significantly stronger than his SSJ self. On top of this, his power constantly rises while in LSSJ.

He also displayed FTL combat speed in Second Coming, giving him a speed advantage.
