Brian Drummond will be at the fan expo (I think that is what it is called) On Saturday from 2-6. He'll be there Sunday too but not as long as Saturday. I do not remember how long he said he would be there :/

Anyway, he hopes the the NDA will end before that time cause he knows during panelling sessions and autograph sessions that he'll be asked. Also, it would be great exposure for the dub by then. So here's hoping the NDA ends.

In addition to that, he told me that this Kai dub is extremely odd because normally when they work on a show, it is coming out at the same time they are dubbing it. Who knows, maybe only one man created this dub just for himself! :lolno: But yeah, he doesn't know if it will be a DVD release (but we can assume it might be), because the FUNi dub is readily available in Canada and elsewhere! He is worried that without the good exposure that the dub needs, it will fail. He's not sure if this DVD is targeted towards a niche market so only those that want it will know about it, or it will be a TV only release, or that maybe many people want it. We'll see.

But the dub is for sure REAL. Will it ever be released and on what platform is the question.
My favourite art style (and animation) outside Toriyama who worked on Dragon Ball: Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, Masaki Satō, Minoru Maeda, Takeo Ide, Hisashi Eguchi, Katsumi Aoshima, Tomekichi Takeuchi, Masahiro Shimanuki, Kazuya Hisada

It's apparent that they (whoever "they" are) decided to dub the whole show first. I wonder, then, if that doesn't mean this dub will be delayed even further since the Kai-Buu arc is happening now.

I just wish they could just land a DVD or TV deal already. I would think Canada's YTV would be the best place for it to air, even though it's now practically Nickelodeon in Canada (Which is ironic since they actually do have a Nickelodeon channel now). Anime used to be showcased in the afternoons but now they only have a few anime title's and they're aired early in the morning.

What I don't understand is that he said he thought the NDA was nearly up, that was March and now it seems he is unsure when it is up. Does that mean that this NDA is in effect until the producers decide to drop it? Where by the actors are under NDA until such time that the producers seem fit to end the NDA. I thought that NDA's were more time based rather than TBC under an end date is finalised.

I hope not, by the looks of things Kai will take a while to come out.

On his twitter, Drummond said he doubts an Ocean dub of Battle of Gods will happen.

From the Death Note panel at Fan Expo Vancouver
From 16:00 Drummond talks in his Vegeta voice and does the Over 9000! line. It sounds more toned down then what he has done in the past but keep in mind that it would be toned down anyway because this is at an Anime convention and not the show.

From 22:00 Drummond is asked about if a Battle of Gods dub is likely which he doesn't so and mentions 'other things'. Brad Swaile is aware of the strict NDA surrounding Kai.

Drummond also mentions while he likes the character of Vegeta, he dislikes having to voice him because of the strain on his voice.

Strain on his voice eh? I'm hoping he's just referring to the screaming, and not him using his same old forced Vegeta voice from he old days. I want something more akin to his Zechs voice this time around.

I agree. His voice in that clip sounded even worse than his Westwood performances. Something more along the lines of his Zechs voice would be more fitting than the chain-smoker, biker-gang, evil-imp, over-the-top, generic Saturday morning cartoon villain voice he's been pulling since '96.

I thought he was going for "regal" with his new Vegeta dub? If that's true, his voice must be different to the old one. Maybe he was just going back to the old voice in that clip precisely because it's the old voice, the one that he's famous for.

It's also important to note that, in this particular clip, he's at a con, and not every voice actor goes all-out when they're at a con...especially in Drummond's case, I would imagine, considering how much he emphasized the pain and damage that comes with doing his Vegeta voice.

Come on now, how can you put a quick impromptu "over 9000" line done at a convention and recorded from far away by a hand cam under any kind of scrutiny? That's just silly to me.

Hey, all.

One of my friends was at the con recently and managed to, incredibly, actually get some evidence of the Ocean Studios dub! At first I didn't believe it, but if you look hard at this picture, you can juuuuust make out the Ocean Dragon Ball Kai dub.

Hey! Hey, you! Ocean Dragon Ball Kai dub!

Yes, you! Silly guy.

We must be careful, for the Ocean Studios Kai dub is a rare and timid creature.

And so it lumbers off, carefree as it came, back into the woodland jungle it calls home.

You win at least ten internets, Cipher. I'll have to discuss it with the prize committee.

So all this time, that elusive Canadian dub has been hiding in Bluff Creek, California.....
