I wonder how many other characters just completely change personalities in filler? I know Giran is one. Vegeta in the Namek arc, too. Maybe Super Buu. Goku also seems pretty off the mark in many filler appearances. And Yamcha actually manages to win fights in filler, which couldn't be any more out of character! Maybe Giran just tries to keep up appearances for the crowd, like a pro wrestler.

Anime Yajirobe and manga Yajirobe are almost two entirely different characters due to how the anime writes him as a complete asshole in every filler scene he's in.

Also, I just rewatched this episode... man, that scene with Bulma and the others in the desert really feels like it exists purely to force feed exposition about Oolong and Puer's abilities and backstory to the audience. I guess the writers assumed they'd be relatively major characters and wanted to make sure we knew what they could do.

I know you're probably very busy with other stuff Herms, seeing as this thread hasn't been updated in half a year already but I just wanted to know whether you'll ever get back to this here?
Maybe after all the FnF craze? Or whenever you feel like it.

I definitely want to get back to this one day. I hate leaving things unfinished (even if I have left an awful lot of projects unfinished over the years), and I was really looking forward to doing the Red Ribbon arc since I've never seen the anime version before at all, but the manga version was some of the first manga I ever read. But like you said there's the new movie to keep track of, and I also keep getting my TV-watching time taken up by other stuff. Right now I'm in the middle of watching through all of classic Doctor Who...about 700 episodes, so longer than it would take to go through DB/Z/GT, but I'm not writing up my thoughts, so it seems easier than starting up this project again. And it's a lot of stuff I've never seen before, while with DB/Z/GT it's...well, also a lot of stuff I technically haven't seen before, but it's all adapted from a manga I know really, really well. Anyway, maybe if I just try and do an episode here and there, I could just chip away at it for the next few years.

(I suppose technically I should get upset because this is a big necro-post, but you said nice things about me, so it's OK in my book. That should probably be an official rule. Actually, threads on long-running projects are supposed to be OK to revive at any time, although I don't know if I even kept this thing going long enough for it to qualify as a "long-running project". Well, whatever.)

Don't worry about it, I was just kidding really. I'm always so hard on people necro-posting that I thought it might look like a double standard if I didn't say anything when someone bumped up one of my old threads.

(Anyway, reviewing the forum rules earlier tonight, I discovered that there really doesn't seem to be anything there about necro-posting...so I guess I've been giving people a hard time for nothing. Oh well.)
