Full-Color Manga: preview/reference panels for each chapter

And you're doing it much faster than I am! I did most of the "origins" era, but if you keep it up at this pace, I think we'll owe most of the Z/Kai era to you, filling my huge gaps (and eventually, possibly catching up with me and going ahead)!

Thanks, buddy. I know that these are a hot topic right now so I'm trying to dish them out as fast as possible 5 chapters at a time. I'm in this spectacular position to make a lot of progress on these because I'm between college semesters and my girlfriend is on holiday with her family in South Carolina until the 5th of January. So if there's ever been a time to make progress, it's now. Carpe diem.

And with that, my good friends, the gap has been closed between chapters 165 and 195. Next I'll be moving on to filling in the missing chapters between 249 and 317.

I'm particularly looking forward to seeing chapters 311&312 in color as it will be interesting to see, if they colored Goku's aura in red to show that he's using Kaio-ken(KKx10 to be precise).
It's an important detail, but one that's easy to overlook by the casual reader as it isn't that obvious(Goku's lack of yelling it out).

You're very welcome. If I didn't think that I was going to get to those chapters by tomorrow I would lay down some examples for you right now. But I'll make sure I touch on those panels since they're important.

It's actually a chapter that's ready for preview since I had closed the gap between Freezer reaching his final form and Goku becoming a Super Saiyan before having to proceed with Cell. So I might post those soon (chapter 304 and chapters 307 to 316) to lift this weight from Tyro's already heavy-loaded shoulders.

Anything you want to toss on top of the pile of chapters I'm going through helps me tremendously, allowing me to get to those later chapters like the Boo arc that we've scarcely seen at all. After finishing this gap I'm going to move onto the next one, and then the next one, etc, so if you can make sure all the chapters you've graciously created previews for are in your lists on page 1 and 7, that'll save me from double dipping into the work you've already completed. If anyone else wanted to jump in and help the biggest contribution would be to provide previews for every chapter prior to 421.

But as I said, the plan was initially to fill the gaps, but you know, the Majin Boo arc itself is a huge gap right now.
Do whatever chapter you want in the whole story.

Then I also have to add your chapters to the main list once and for all. Wish I didn't have to sleep so that everyday would really be 24 hours of activity, that would definately give me more free time to do things... though it would still not be enough to do everything I want, actually!

Heh, I'm the kinda guy who has to watch the first movie in a series before I can watch the others, and I'm going to be the same way with these. I really would like to throw up more chapters a day but these eat up hours of time. You've filled in the majority of the Cell arc so we'll be done before long. I'm well on the way to my February deadline.

Its amazing what the full color treatment has done for the manga. It really bumps up the art quality.

Also came across a scan of Gohan in his Kaioshin outfit. Seems in the full color version its identical to Old Kai's uniform.

As I bought VIZ's weekly chapters I sometimes thought that the colors were too bright or bland and would partially destroy the tone of the chapter as presented in black and while. But I love them so much now and appreciate them for their charm and consistency. As you get used to them they can really grow on you.

All the Kaio-shin and Kibito wear the same color clothes as well. Maybe not Dai Kaio-shin with his cape but I believe Southern Kaio-shin does.

I always sort of figured the unspoken rule was that in black and white, if something was black, you would ink it in full, and if it was any other color, you don't fill it in.

To answer your question, Goku is not shown using the Kaioken until Freezer gets serious (saying he stops playing and it was fun entertaining) and seriously starts to take the upper hand. Goku gets seriously beaten up despite trying his best, and ultimately uses Kaioken but it's no good. It's only when he rushes to Freezer and gets kicked away that his aura is the red Kaioken aura (right before he gets up with his face bleeding and the scene cuts to Kaio's planet).

So that would be chapter 312 then.
I think I kinda expected that, because as i said, it's first in that chapter it's mentioned he's using the Kaioken.
I do think he could've been using some level of Kaioken in chapter 311, as his eyes aren't black in the panel where he charges forward, usually a sign of him using Kaioken(at this point in the story anyways).
I remember Daizenshuu 7(or was it one of the others?) using that panel as an example, when talking about the Kaioken.

But before we jump into that I wanted to show you an interesting detail from chapter 293. It seems there was an uncaught mistake where's Kaio's clothes were colored green again like they were before chapter 230. It's only for a single panel; strangely Kaio is shown in his red clothing before and after the mistake, within the same chapter.
