Maybe not, but KIRA is.
And when I think about it, it seems rather likely that Son Goku only saved Freeza's life because he didn't like the idea that no one would ever present a challenge to him again. I mean honestly, who would have thought anyone or anything could be stronger that Freeza or a Super Saiya-jin.

I think Frieza was the only person that Goku ever had a personal desire to kill. However, it got to a point where Goku was satisfied with killing his pride. His desire to fight stronger opponents and his merciful character were the only things keeping him from killing Frieza once Frieza reached his limits.

Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!

Was Goku being merciful or just ruthless? Wouldn't it pain Frieza to be floating through space with his legs cut off knowing he was beaten by a monkey more then having him dead in the other world?

(tries to get back on topic).
I got my Steel Box in the mail today. I have yet to watch it but I like the overall design of the box and discs themselves. Once I get around to watching them (probably just the Bardock one for now) I'll give my own sypnosis of them.

Then again, he didn't kill Frieza because he wanted him to live on in shame without a lower body knowing that he got his ass kicked by a monkey.

Just got back in from buying some stuff. I really like the Steel Box design. I don't like that they call the TV Specials "movies" yet again.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

You better thank me for telling you about the deal.

I would like to thank you again for telling me of the deal. I also picked up a cheap copy of Samurai 7 as well.
Edit: Just got finished watching the Bardock feature. I would have to say that it was the best "remaster" job Funimation has done so far. It makes the season sets look like trash. I watched it subtitled,so i don't really know about the dub.

On the Goku/Freeza subject...Goku did NOT want to fight Freeza again...He wanted it to be over and never to see Freeza again. But he also wanted to show him mercy in his life but at the same time destroy his pride as an evil fighter.

Actually didn't, he say something to the effect of "If you really need to finish this, brush up on your skills and fight me again"?

Yes, but it seemed that Goku didn't want to be brought into all of that again and his main purpose was breaking Freeza's spirit. I think that statement was more or less the same advice he'd been giving before to other villains. In others words, just because you have power, don't stop working.

Who is talking about legal? Morally they were guilty. He did not go to the Red Ribbon base intending to kill anyone. He went to get the Dragonball so he could revive Bora. They decided to start firing on him. He defended himself. They were the ones who escalated the fight. Most of the soilders he defeated were simply knocked out. Only ones I saw die was the pilot of the hovercraft who crashed into a wall, and the two who he fired a kamehameha at.
EDIT: I also got the steel box and season 4 Thursday. Both specials wre great. Was a bit disappointed the Dream Theater song is not on the original dub track. But thats pretty minor overall.

Just finished watching Bardock. For someone who hasn't seen the season sets it wasn't too bad. Although there were times where I wished that they've redubbed some or all lines, and I have a feeling that they added some new lines in too (I'd have to watch my old DVD to confirm this). I liked how in some scenes the voice echoes, like with Freeza, Dodoria, and Zarbon in the hall first making the plans, and the echo when Bardock was yelling at Dodoria.
I'll watch the Trunks one after I get out of the shower. In the mean time I'm really digging the menu music.
Though a quick question. This verticle line that happens in Chapter 6 of the DVD, where Bardock's in the tank and having his premonitions (look in between his face and that wire thing). Is this from the remaster or from the original Jp films? (PowerDVD scrunched it up, blah).

I noticed that line too, like right away. But it doesn't last long, so I guess I just ignored it lol I doubt it's from the remaster. It hasn't happened on any other Season Set or anything. Usually lines disappear, not appear out of nowhere lol

Picked this up over the weekend.
Though I've only watched the one special so far (Bardock), I ain't noticed any standout "ZOMG total fuckup" shots with regards to the cropping . . . yet. Nor did I get the impression that the film had been utterly bleached and saturated like it was for Seasons One and Two.
I have heard people say that the original DVDs are of much higher quality, cropping or no cropping. I never owned those versions, so I can't say, but I tend to like what I see so far . . . though realistically, that's probably because the best version I'd had previously are my old VHS fansubs and the Toonami airings.
Still watching, though. We'll see.

I got this set and the One Piece movie about last week. I just watched the Bardock special today. I must say I loved it. It was awesome seeing it uncut in Japanese for the first time. The picture looked really good and I didn't have to see any black bars because of the TV I was watching it on. Next I definitely need to watch the Trunks one. I've never seen that one in Japanese either.

Dunno if it's been brought up yet (I started skimming after the off-topicness) but when I was watching my copy of this release, the last line from the Bardock Special before the credits begin show up for a bit, disappear, then show up again. Is this happening for anyone else?
I haven't been able to watch either special all the way through uninterrupted (I had to watch the Bardock special in two sittings) but from what I've seen, it looks like stuff's definitely improved from the season one and two crazy bright footage. The only thing I've seen in terms of widescreen cutting stuff off that I could remember was when Bardock starts getting flashbacks and we see a shot of Goku training with Mr. Popo... except half his face is cut off. The flashback stuff in general looks a bit more fuzzy than it should be, but I don't remember if that's how it was with FUNi's original release of it.
While the tin case is way hot, it's not exactly the most durable of things. I'm about to play the rest of the Bardock special during free period when my friend points out that there's a dent in it

. Also, while the cover art does have a good classic shot of Trunks as the main focus, if you look over on his Capsule Corp. patch, it looks horribly drawn. Just something that caught my eye after staring at the case for a while.

I noticed that line instantly and instantly focused all of my attention on it because it was there for a while. It must have been from the masters they were using.

Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!

As a former movie theater projectionist... that sort of thing is all I can focus on. It's like a nagging itch.
