The Demon on the girl's shirt is the first thing I noticed. It
has to be Videl. Remember, her name is an anagram for Devil.
Like others noticed when the first leaked image popped up, it seems like everyone is at some kind of party, because of the drinks and formal wear. Some were saying it was Gohan's wedding, but if that girl
is Videl, then that can't be true.. Gohan is wearing his Goku-like gi. I wonder what the party is for. I was really hoping it was Gohan and Videl's wedding, oh well!

Before the movie comes out, anyone plan to have a DBZ movie marathon? Watch all 13 DBZ movies in one day to hype up your self when the new movie comes out.

Don't forget the 10th Anniversary Movie and the first 3 Dragon Ball films.

Remember, it's been 17 years since the last movie and there are 17 movies in total.

From what I understand (according to a number of Japanese sources), Suzuoki was hospitalized with an unspecified illness at the time, so for scenes where Tenshinhan, Chiaotzu and Yamcha were watching the battle from Planet Kaiō, Yamadera filled in for him. Someone with a Dragon Box will have to see if that's reflected in the credits, though.
Ah, I see. I hope it wasn't a precursor to the cancer. O.o
EDIT: Just checked the credits for #84. Yup, that's his name (although Tenshinhan is written in...kanji?)

I might do just that, though I'll probably wait until it's coming out over here since I probably won't get to see it until then.

he really does look like an ancient Brain though x.x but i like these designs MUCH better than that original poster
Not so much the design but hmm the way the art is drawn? moreso the way birisu's face is drawn. Idk how to explain it

...Cannot. Unsee. FUNi, it's time to make some connections and get Maurice LaMarche in your studio when it's time to dub this thing.

Toriyama wrote:It’s rare, or I should say, it’s the first time, that I’ve been deeply involved with the animation from the scriptwriting stage.
It had been a while, so there was a lot I’d forgotten, but as expected of the creator of the original work, I was soon able to get back into the tempo of things, at least.
For this film, while leaving the atmosphere of the original intact, we’ve added just a little bit of modern flavor, so I think it will be an enjoyable work of entertainment, just like old times.
This made me a bit sceptical to be honest.

I wonder what Toriyama did to get "back into the tempo of things"? Do you think he read any of the guide books or do you think he just reread the Boo portion of his manga?

Yep, Yamadera did indeed fill in for Suzuoki in both
Dragon Ball Z episodes
82 and
84.

I actually edited my post at 7:12PM to say I had checked the credits.

Still, awesome confirmation. Now Yamadera's re-joining the
Dragon Ball family with a pretty important role (in terms of being the first new movie villain). I wonder if he even remembers filling in, though...

Now that I'm back and got a chance to look at the bigger, higher-quality scan; I actually really do kinda like what's going on with Kuririn's hair; also like Yamcha's long hair. I like that both they and Tenshinhan get noticable movie-exclusive outfits, and I'm hoping that Goku and Vegeta get ones too, even if it's something they only wear at the beginning before the plot gets rolling.
Also, Mark is asleep; I find that hilarious. (His cheeks are red, maybe it's drunken-sleep?)
Bils and his face design discrepancies; my in-universe theory is maybe he's got a handful of different battle transformations--note how Babidi-eyes Bils looks more muscular, despite his face looking older; and my out-universe theory is that the character design changed some time in-between pieces.
I feel like there should be more bad guys than just these two; it feels outnumbered to me.
Also agreed at the idea design of those DB pens is ridiculous. Who looks at a ball and goes "Hey, that would make a great shape for a pen!" o_O I mean, they're cute, but really impractical.
Erasers would be more comfortable.
I wonder if those two spherical things in the sky in the poster (Moons? Planets?) are of any significance or if they're just there for design purposes.
That movie-9 symbol on Videl's shirt and its callback is new info to me. It's just something I never noticed before.
Still undecided as to whose side I think Whis is on, or if he or she is secretly the one pulling the strings or not. I'm not even sure if I think Whis is a makaioshin or not anymore.
On hiatus.

I was kind of cold on the new villain's design, and sort of hoping by some miracle the guy who leaked the poster managed to fake characters, but just learning that his and the other person's names might possibly be alcohol puns just puts a dumb grin on my face. Nice job, Toriyama.

Yeah, I'm still not wild over Bils design (Goku vs Purple Kitty makes me think of Neko Majin Z, only with less humor) but I do admit that cats in general can be fun to watch, as YouTube has proven to me. Mr. or Ms. Soft-Serve Ice-Cream hair is still interesting to me. Also, I like that Bils has Spike's VA; even with that design, his voice may be entertaining to listen to.
Also Bils being able to "violate common sense" sounds intriguing. :3 It reads like code for "crazy absurd stuff is gonna happen in this film". I like that.
Jump Festa cannot come soon enough; I'm terribly curious about Pilaf Gang and what may or may not happen to Vegeta.
On hiatus.

*snip*
And he was near-perfect that no one noticed it's not Suzuoki until seeing the ending credit:

I wish he voices Tenshinhan in the movie, too.

I definitely will.

probably include the overview special and the original Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans as well.

I'm so excited for this movie as well! I'm hoping next year Funimation will release the original Dragonball Dragon-boxes. I wonder how long it will take for the US to get the new movie?
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128
Still recording Toonami broadcasts on VHS after all these years!

Y'know what would be interesting and a helluva lot of fun? If the mysterious and hinted Vegeta-Pilaf shenanigans aren't part of the actual movie, but some sort of bonus short preceding it. A bunch of the One Piece movies have had such min-features along with their movies before, and they're always entertaining. It'd be cool to see a DBZ film do the same thing, and as far as I know, it'd be the first time that has happened.
Buuuut if anything like that was in store, we probably would have heard something about it by now, even just a small hint.

I guess at least 2014. I think Funimation will renew their rights to the Dragon Ball franchise soon and might able to play the movie at screenings at festivals and conventions before it's out on DVD & Blu-Ray. They did that with Evangelion 1.0 and Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos.
