Based on the beautiful Intro, I think they made a terrible mistake deciding not to reanimate Kai from scratch. When you re-record the sound, and change the music, you may as well do the same for the Animation.

But besides my one complaint, I'll continue watching this as I like the idea of the removal of filler.

Gonna make more comparisons down the line, plus the brightness looks messed up in a few of the snaps.
Both Funi and Kai look great, but like you said Kai is brighter. I don't like the brightness on Bardock's face, but the other three are great

By the way, are you guys watching Kai via Youtube. Just curious as to where you guys are going.

I guess you guys missed the explanation on how to watch Japanese TV on your computers.

No, I watched it as it aired. I just wanted to know where people were watching it again.

As hard as it is to believe...Funimation actually looks better. >.<

I really didn't enjoy the colors in the Episode...It just looked very washed out. Obviously not as bleached Season 2 FUNi colors. But...uhg...I just didn't enjoy the colors. To be blunt, I think FUNi's Season Sets Season 3 are on actually look better color wise.

Well, his very first line from the original, about how the people on Earth are still alive, is left out in Kai, but other than that Raditz's landing scene is the same. They did though take out a short scene later after Raditz leaves Piccolo to head after Goku, when he's talking to himself wondering if Goku has lost the pride of the Saiyans.

I think all Kai did was show how much the series has aged. When you can see the video shaking, zoom-ins looking pretty cruddy (like with the farmer dude), etc. It is more of a turn-off. Especially when you got these shiny intros and outros attached. Not to mention new shiny eyecatches in the middle of the episode. When you return to the actual show, it just doesn't feel satisfying.

To the above, wasn't some of Gohan's wandering taken out? Like the scene with the tiger...

Yeah, much of the filler from the original Z episodes was taken out. I was just mentioning the Raditz stuff as examples of stuff from the manga that was left out in Kai.

Here's the title card preview for episode two in case anyone wanted it. I'm really dissapointed that they opted to just preview the text and not the final card, but oh well; I'm just happy that we will have all of the next episode previews available to us!

Well, like most anime and cartoons, the intros and outros always look better than the actual show. :P

Wow! I really liked how Kai looks. :D

The OP sounds as if a Super Sentai series and GT's OP had a child - "Dokkan Dokkan"/"Dan Dan", the ambience of the first 20 seconds, the "Doragooon Souuuuuul!" finale. I liked it...however, the ED is just amazing. I wanna sing it so badly. ;-;

As for the animation, it's certainly cleaner. I think it's worth some of the hype, but I'll reserve judgement for when we get further in. Still, it's new Dragonball stuff. ^^

The new opening was cool, but a bit a hit-and-miss with the quality of the characters' drawings. There are times when they just look plain wrong. That's why I'm kinda happy they decided not to re-animate it. They may have actually messed it up.
In a nutshell: Likes the sub and the dub and barely ever posts.

I've honestly would have liked the animation to be in vain that the OP/ED were. If I'm not mistaken the same animation was used in the '08 Special which I didn't mind at all. If anything I was still kinda expecting new animation. The series looks worse aged than the original presentation for some reason.
Be grateful the filler in Dragon Ball doesn't suck like the 3rd arc of Rurouni Kenshin.

I just finished watching the first episode, and it was amazing! The remastering is gorgeous, the music is beautiful, I loved it and I can't wait to see what the rest of the series will look like.

What did everyone think of the first next episode preview?

I thought it was good, and I do really like the BGM, but I hate how they had to chop 5 seconds out the music so obviously, instead of just adding another five seconds of readily available footage. :? I mean, the next episode previews for DBZ were 30 seconds, so what's so bad about adding those five seconds and making everything so much smoother?

The little flute sound effect that was played at the beginning really reminded me of the flute that Willy Wonka plays whenever he needs an Oompa Loompa to appear. I don't think it prefectly meshes with the BGM that plays right after it, but it is pretty close.

I hope "Ossu! Ore Goku!" stays as the opening line for all of the previews narrated by Goku. :D

But it's pretty true. Kai was too damn bright sometimes.
