FUNimation Dragon Box Z #1 (In-Hands) Discussion
One thing I'm curious of right now, is why does Funi always use 16:9 menus all the time for their releases nowadays, even for the 4:3 releases?
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

I took two screencaps from the UUE DVDs just to see how far we've come (screencaps taken in MPC-HC):

Why not try using DVD Decryptor and AutoGK? The program works great for me, and rips at amazing quality. Here's a tutorial for it: http://elliottback.com/wp/how-to-rip-a-dvd-a-tutorial/Haseowolf wrote: As for video and audio samples...I might have a hard time with that. I was trying to rip EVA last week so I can watch it on my Zune, but no matter what program I used, I couldn't break the copy protection. I'm guessing it'll be the same for the Dragon Box. Did FUNi get some new software for piracy protection (not that I'm gonna hand it out, I just wanna do with it what I want)?
An interviewer asks, "The soundtrack in Sonic 3 has become legendary. Is it true that you worked with Michael Jackson on it?" Takashi Iizuka kills all of our hopes and dreams by replying, "You know, those are just rumors, and SEGA does not want to say anything about them. So they will forever be just rumors..." WHY!?

I'm a little worried that the audio is only 96kb instead of something like 128 or 192. I mean I wasn't expecting 448 like on my Dragon Ball Z Region 2 Japanese discs, but still it would have been nice had they encoded it a little higher even if it is only mono audio. Also I ordered the Dragon Box from Amazon, will Right Stuff match there price of $47.99 and still ship it early if I order it tommarow?

It's already been discussed that the bitrate is in fact 96kb. As for your order, Amazon might ship it early (like most sites if you order in advance - two or three days before isn't really in advance, but a few days is) and they don't have to match RightStuf's price. They are selling it for $47.99, however.pjay wrote:I'm a little worried that the audio is only 96kb instead of something like 128 or 192. Unless I'm not seeing something you are, the price is still $47.99. Amazon's listing say this:pjay wrote:Really because there page says $59.99DBZfan29 wrote:It's already been discussed that the bitrate is in fact 96kb. The $47.99 thing (at RightStuf) was a limited time thing back around when the pre-order first went up.
With what I would've paid Amazon to receive it on the 17th, I switched to RightStuf and chose free shipping for only a couple dollars more. I'm testing out a theory: either the order will go through and it'll ship out i nthe next day or so or they've only got the earlier pre-ordered copies in right now and it'll arrive shortly after the 17th. Either way, at most, I only lose a couple days compared to Amazon and at best I'll receive it early next week.
I'll keep you guys updated.

I'm not expecting the Japanese audio to be the same quality as the R2 Dragon Box, but it is at least a notable improvement from the previous releases right? If so, that's good enough for me.
