While the movies did a lot of things better than the Super retellings, the converse is also true, and Super adds a lot of new content to the bare bones of the movies as well as providing a more natural transition from Z to Super.omaro34 wrote:Dubbing the first 2 re-telling Arcs to me is so redundant, as we already have the movies in English. Sabat and the others may want to save their vocal cords for the real meat of Super. Although I doubt it would happen.

I won't outright deny a censored episode broadcast, but Adult Swim starts at 8pm right? If so that would line up with the first Super timeslot so it is a possibility, maybe just like Chris Ayres reprising his role as Freeza for Resurrection F Sabat got his wish about the edited version not airing, at least not on Toonami, a children's station may pick it up towards the summer, I guess we'll see.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:http://www.toei-animation-usa.com/press ... t_Swim.pdf
I'm confused are we getting two episodes or just the same episode repeated?
Do you have any info about international non-English broadcasts about the Dragon Ball anime or manga translations/editions? Please message me. Researching for a future book with Dragon Ball scholar Derek Padula

I assume the 8pm slot is permanent?. Also, perhaps the Series will debut on Adult Swim/Toonami and by the Summer a Kids Network will start airing a censored cut. Hence the Bandai toyline. We can but hope.Dragon Ball Ireland wrote:I won't outright deny a censored episode broadcast, but Adult Swim starts at 8pm right? The edited Hercule version of Super will air at 8pm, The uncut Mr.Satan version will air at 11:30 when Toonami starts.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation English Dub Official Announcement and Discussion Thread
I highly doubt [adult swim] would bother airing two different versions of an episode each week. If I recall, when they had a second timeslot for Kai that was earlier than the time Toonami began, it was still the uncut version. They technically had an edited version on hand, so the opportunity was there.
The edited versions are likely meant for a different channel at a different time, should that time ever come.

Talk about killing two birds with one stone. But I have a funny feeling that going from Super to a crappy re-cut of DBZ's Majin Boo arc might make for a jarring viewing experience for some fans. Either way, fantastic news. 2017 is gonna be one hell of a year for us Dragon Ball fans.Quantum-Kakarrotto wrote:Well it's official. Toonami has announced Dragon Ball Super! I'm sure plenty of Dragon Ball Super's detractors could argue the reverse of that happening. Both show's have their downsides, but the Buu Arc of Kai might get more of a pass on nostalgia grounds.Lord Beerus wrote: Talk about killing two birds with one stone. It could still be part of the Toonami block, and it would come on at a time that's still easily accessible for kids to watch as well. And honestly, although Super does deal with some mature themes and has some of what would be considered swears here, it's still pretty light on things like gore that would make it have to have a kids and uncut version as completely separate entities.
I have to say, I called this one. 8:00 is the perfect time for a show like this.

Awesome! I've bern saying Cartoon Network needed to be the home of Super and I'm so glad we will get that.

With the announcements of Tia Ballard and Alexis Tipton in the cast, does anyone else feel old given the two of them being young? What I mean is I was in college when DB ended on Cartoon Network back in December 2003, while the two of them were 17 and 14. The two of them still rock though. (Am a fanof their other work)

Very cool that they're debuting both Super and The Final Chapters. That's tons of new dubbed Dragon Ball content. Count me as happy!
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

I don't think he meant it as a sleight against them at all, just something that he noticed and makes him feel old. Hell, I'm at a point now where I've got quite a few friends of friends now making their way into official dubs of things, and they're all pretty much roughly in my age range if not younger, and that feels super weird to me even while also being really cool.precita wrote:Super Sonic wrote:With the announcements of Tia Ballard and Alexis Tipton in the cast, does anyone else feel old given the two of them being young? I'm surprise that we are getting two DB shows on Toonami. Feels like 2001-2003 all over again. I do think the 8 PM showing of Super could be a edited version since kids can stay up later on weekends. If it was 8 PM on Monday - Thursday then that would be a bad idea.

Well, I'm 30. So I also know that feeling. You have to remember 10 years ago we were 20 and they were 10, now they're in their 20's and we're a decade older.Gyt Kaliba wrote:I don't think he meant it as a sleight against them at all, just something that he noticed and makes him feel old.
