Like I said, I don't see any relevant differences (besides one being real and the other being fictional). And if a person wants to see a fictional underage character looking hot because he would find that sexy or whatever (and not purely because it would be funny), then that's not far off wanting to see a real underage person looking hot for the same reasons.
(Of course, I'm not referring to those who are on the verge of being of age, even though they are technically underage, but those who are really underage, like Pan would be).
Re: Fan Works Explosion
I didn't want to enter this fire but I have to disagree with this. Fantasy is fantasy and it does not mean will ever act upon them. I know women who have rape fantasies but they're not cruising the streets looking for a possible predator. Hey, I'm not into underage female characters but I don't believe those who do are potential pedophiles. Hell, they're not even probably into real life little girls. To say fantasy is the first step to reality is just ridiculous.Fantasy is the first step to reality.

But of course my main point was comparing the two fantasies (real versus fictional). It wasn't about action. I just added that common phrase because its somewhat relevant.

And I did say that my reasoning was limited to those who want to see that because they would find that sexy and whatnot.

Well it's better to express/let out our fantasies through something harmless like art or entertainment. Better than bottling them in...rereboy wrote:And I did say that my reasoning was limited to those who want to see that because they would find that sexy and whatnot.
Anyway....Check out some of this art by TheDevilsCorpse. It's a commission he did for someones fan story! I like the design! The character's name is Vaboru, and he is supposedly the long lost older brother of Vegeta and Tarble.

Sorry for the hotlink, I'm too tired right now to upload to Photobucket lol

TDC's artwork is nice (as usual) but the story behind that OC is so thoroughly Mary Sue that I'm thinking it might actually be intentional.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

I actually prefer the hotlink, as DA's "share" option is basically the same thing. It allows people to trace the image back to the original artist, though that's not a big deal in this case since I watermark it all.Insertclevername wrote:Anyway....Check out some of this art by TheDevilsCorpes.

Agreed. The stuff in porn and the like is so obviously fantasy separated from reality that it's not even worth comparing the two. Even moreso if we're talking about drawn porn (when's the last time you saw in real-life someone like Slenderman fucking themself in the ass?).Scarz wrote:I didn't want to enter this fire but I have to disagree with this. It's like the flimsy argument that playing violent video games will suddenly turn you into an aggressive mass murder, when there have been no actual studies to prove the correlation between playing violent video games and real-life violence. You know those idiots in the media have been blaming Mass Effect on the Connecticut shooting? Not, y'know, the actual mental state of a perpetrator at the time?
Besides, rereboy (but not you in particular), wouldn't you rather someone let off their sexual energy looking at lolicon or shotacon (and even then, the characters in that are just as idealized as any other porn character too), rather than actually going out and raping an underage child for real?

Re: Fan Works Explosion
Not to drag this argument up again, but I have to side with Scarz and the others saying it's not that big a deal so long as it's fictional only. I no longer like Pan that way, simply because I, on my own personal thoughts, figured it was going too far at this point in my life. But that's on MY thoughts, not anything I expect anyone else to hold too.
Hell, lots of my favorite anime girls that I find 'hot' are technically underage, but they don't look it. Yoko from Gurren Lagann is 14. Orihime from Bleach is 15. Does the fact that their bodies don't match being underage make it any less 'taboo' if they were real? No, it doesn't. But since they're fictional, I see absolutely nothing wrong with it.
Or for a DB example, Bulma from the start of the series is, what, 16? Still hot.
Or for another completely flipped example - Konata in Lucky Star is 17 or 18 by the end of the series, and looks a LOT younger than that. But I still consider her one of my favorite anime girls that I do find vaguely attractive. If I'm going to like Orihime in that way because despite her young age, it seems like a double standard IMO to not like Konata, who IS of age, despite her appearance (after all, there are people in reality who look much younger than they are, either just due to basic genetics or that one disease that's name is eluding me at the moment).
My basic line is this - If it's fictional, it doesn't hurt anyone, because these are not real people. And liking a fictional character despite their age in no way means a person is going to like real people of that age.

Of course. My point was simply that being fictional instead of real wasn't relevant for the purpose of discussing if its something good or bad.Piccolo Daimao wrote:

Personally, I don't have any problems with anyone's fantasy, as long as that fantasy doesn't end up hurting other people. Its when things get real that I have a problem.
However, trying to argue that its OK because its a fictional character instead of a real person, doesn't make sense to me, since there's hardly any relevant differences from my point of view. Someone who finds a fictional 10-year-old sexy, to me, is pretty much the same as (or at least not that far off) someone who finds a real 10-year-old sexy.
To me, what matters is action. A guy is a rapist if he actually rapes someone, for example. Not if he just thinks about it.Scarz wrote:

Its not exactly right to think about something like that, mind you. Especially if its something frequent or constant. But if he controls himself every time and never rapes anyone, then he most certainly is not a rapist. Just a guy with "demons" that he never allows to hurt other people.
Re: Fan Works Explosion
The problem with that being that paedophilia does not describe actions, but feelings. If you have sexual feelings for a prepubescent, you are a paedophile, by definition.
Much like you're still hetero/homo/bi-sexual, even if you never do the deed.

As I said I don't find the "little girl" part of Pan attractive it's the overall "sporty" look. And I also snever said that I would use a picture as fap material, I simply said I would find it a bit attractive. Either way I think I've opened up a can of worms.
Re: Fan Works Explosion
That is true, technically speaking, but without any action its just the person's secret/fantasy/demon/whatever and it never evolves into something more serious.Rocketman wrote:The problem with that being that paedophilia does not describe actions, but feelings.
