I will personally never understand the fandom's obsession with shine.
I perfectly understand it. Though I'm more interested with how "shine" is being used (depends on the particular fan). I mean many people want to see other characters do something interesting, rather than struggling just to make an appearance. People want to see other non Goku/Vegeta characters get good fights. I can completely understand and agree with this stuff, I'd like to see other characters do important things. However, some fans may take it a step further and start saying stuff like "Goku is always the one to defeat the villain", a complaint that surfaced during Z even though Z is when Goku starting losing more often, or the complaints about Vegeta "always getting treated terribly." In the latter's case, Vegeta fans imo don't have much room to complain. Stuff like this I don't support since these statements are false. Regardless, it isn't hard to see why people want characters to "shine". Many aren't even asking for the characters to "save the day" but be able to get good moments. This tournament could potentially provide that.

You'd understand if you lived in a world where Goku always jobs and Vegeta always does well.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

That would be amazing! But we still need a confirmation if killing is allowing in this tournament, I can see Boo turning them into candy, but didn't Mr. Satan taught him to not do that with people anymore?

You'll lose hope in a saga because of the possibility of Gohan losing to a character who has a design you don't like?
Yeah and more exactly his defeat being used as motivation for he train harder as they need to be at their peak in this tournament.

I'm not a Vegeta fan, but god how this old trope is annoying, I really hope to not get this same thing for the seventh time, but I would be not surprised :problem:

I don't see the problem everyone just wants their favorites to do well instead of just jobbing and barely get an appearance in the series.

Why would I care if Goku jobs? Some of my favorite Goku moments is when he get humiliated like him being taking out by laser despite all his power.

Unlike most, I am not obsessed with characters getting 'W'.

One of my favorite characters is Krillin and I like him because he often get humiliated, especially in the original Dragon Ball. Goku calling Puar and Upa stronger than Krillin was hilarious.

I find more joy seeing my favorite character in pain then I do them getting 'shine'.

Goku barely took a backseat in the Buu saga, at best he took a leisurely stroll round back while everyone else cried for him to come back.

So I don't get it, if a character loses a match does that mean they're out of the tournament for good? Pretty much all previous Dragonball tournaments played out that way, where you lose once and you're done. One exception was when Goku lost to Frost and was let back in because he was poisoned.

If Gohan loses this match does that mean he's done for the entire tournament?

If poisoning is allowed then he is out of the entire practice tournament, but will be back for the real thing..

Just throwing this idea out there...what guys in black and red are all candidates for becoming gods of destruction?

I knew the dwarf was going to have some type of relevance. Not only his design was revealed way too soon, but he didn't appear in the opening preview. It's so evident that U9 is going to lose...I wonder what will he do then. I would say he could start some type of rebellion (in the opening the Hakaishins are divided into 2 groups...) but since he's supposed to be too undecisive, I suppose it's impossible.

That's actually a really interesting guess. It didn't make sense for an universe to have such a broken an sonsesical team (the alien dude is definetly a hell strong, Brolyne should be in U6, and Beerus' race one should be in U6 as well, trough in his/her case maybe the race itself originates from another universe).

Well we don't know all the rules yet but if a guy who is identified as a poison user is allowed in then killing might be allowed. I'm all for that.

Also the "no monsters" rule must not be used here as Buu and a rampaging fembroly are allowed in.

What if this tournament turns out to be a hunt for the (Super) Dragonballs and a Universe has to get all of them. Universes in which their fighters all have lost are destroyed. So there are some possibilites. They could wait for other universes to bring the Dragonballs and snatch them away or go for an active hunt for other participants. Doesn't matter to much to me as long as it has good fights and an average+ plot. And I would really like to see Boo absorbing some guys to get stronger and smarter. And Bulma could upgrade the androids to give them some more beef. Tenshinhan was training all the time I hope he developed some new great techniques. For Piccolo I wish they pickup the Namekian Book of Legends. An announcement of an OVA which introduces/gives an overview of the other universes and characters would be need.

That wasn't stupid at all. He didn't want U6 to bring someone like Kid Buu who doesn't understand the rules and will randomly kill people. Not his fault that Buu is dumb and lazy. The test wasn't even that hard since you can pass with just 50% and Goku passed it and he's book dumb.

Out verse that whole thing was poor writing so we would get a gag via Buu. The fact no one in U6 failed just showed that besides in verse Vegeta should know Buu would fail.
