I could see "abandoning the franchise" if they made SSJ3 Trunks a thing, but as TheMightyOzaru said, it makes sense. I don't think there was a very large gap in power between Goku and Vegeta by the end of Z, so odds are he managed to do SSJ3 not long after that.

I'd like to guess some time this week for when they put it up; or maybe they'll upload it onto the site at the same time that they enable the link for the "introduction".

Something interesting I found is that "As she's studying overseas, will Yuko Minaguchi still be voicing Videl or not?" is being discussed on Japanese sites with the same ferocity that "Gohan's ssj hair/mystic form powers" is being discussed on this forum.
I didn't realize Videl's seiyuu had such a large fanbase in Japan; or maybe the other thread just makes it seem that way?

She's had a number of large roles, including the title character of Yawara! (a popular show from the early 90's by a pre-Monster and 20th Century Boys Naoki Urasawa) and one of the Sailor Scouts, if I recall correctly...

While I continue to stick by the "there is no canon" mantra that everyone's repeating back at me these days, I will concede that this is literally the first time ever that any of the rights-holders have so much as casually bothered to say, "Oh hey... uhh... I guess this 'counts' or something."

And even then, I see it more as promotional speak than anything else (like a, "HEY GUYS, SERIOUSLY, THIS IS A BIG ONE!").

I actually read it more as, because Toriyama is writing this it should be viewed as his continuation of the series/manga after the end of Buu. Heck, Toriyama may very well have said himself to TOEI that this is his official continuation of the story he was writing.

I, personally view this that way, like it's a mini-saga/chapter... the next part of the story that we were never told. Think of it like the Other World Tournament or Garlic Jr. arcs except actually written by Toriyama and not TOEI and presented in a full-length feature format. I kind of view Heya Son Goku that way, but it's not as "substantial" in that it was presented as a lost episode/story that was forgotten because there was no real threat. This time there is, it's not a "joke."


Oh and this was mentioned in the podcast, but I'd probably classify this movie as the first "full-length feature film" that officially follows the main storyline of the manga/anime (if it indeed ends up being longer than the older films)...

I'd then take the older 13 movies and categorize them under the umbrella of whatever the event was they showed them at (I forget what it was called), and say that those particular movies were self-contained stories that do not follow the same continuity as the television series.

To be honest, I think that SSJ3 shouldn't be used by anyone else, simply because I believe the transformation strains the body so much to the point that sucks your life dry and makes you age faster. I use DBO timeline as reference, because I don't see other reason for Goku feeling his death was near at 57... like wtf. My first thought was "SSJ3".

I think it really says something about how their relationship matured over the years that they were ok with secretly running away together to do this. You gotta really care deeply about someone to do something so dramatic and tragic as die together with them in one last, final, epic battle all alone somewhere deep in outer space with no one else truly knowing where you went or what happened to you.

How tense was that final spaceship ride they took to their destination I wonder, along with what Vegeta's reaction was to being asked such a thing by Goku in the first place if this was indeed Goku's idea.

On another note; one of the Japanese threads says there's a movie theater showing the trailer from the other day, but it doesn't say which theater, or what movie it's shown before.
I hope the trailer is either shown on TV on its own without the talk show talking over it; or that they post the trailer on the website.
