Maybe, but the manga is still superior in the end of the day.JulieYBM wrote:The comic looks nothing special. Any number of the animators who worked on the Toriko TV series are better artists.

James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

What's a shame is that they create such wonderful series with great staff, but they always seem to cut corners compared to other companies. No matter what decade it is.Lord Beerus wrote:So basically, what I'm trying to say is... Toei animation suck.
Anyway, I'm surprise someone is actually upset Sailor Moon is getting reanimated, but not Dragon Ball Z. Sailor Moon pretty much died in 1997. The Dragon Ball Z anime continuity has continued to stay alive today. There are plenty of games, movies, and TV specials that Sailor Moon doesn't have.
Also Crystal is absolute trash. Saying Crystal is "good", is like saying the food at McDonald's is "good".

Not sure on this one). COME ON PORTUGAL, YOU'RE GETTING 2 SERIES FROM TOEI, WHERE'S MY BOG CINEMA RELEASE!? *ahem* If Crystal is dubbed by the same studio who's dubbing One Piece (112 Studios) it will turn out good, they do have a large pool of actors based on their portfolio (they somehow got Rogério Jacques and Bruno Ferreira to come back for One Piece after its original dub in 2003), and their dubs have been pretty good.
I think my brain stopped working there for a bit, because I was aware our dub was based on the Japanese version. Probably was thinking about DB (and the whole "except this time that is good news" was aimed at DB)...Puto wrote:Yeah, we (Portugal) got Sailor Moon straight from Japan back then. Mind you, the dub was terrible for a multitude of reasons, but translating from another dub was not one of them. I can confirm it was dubbed based on English translations provided by Toei (I know a guy who worked on a recent Polish re-translation of Sailor Moon (for voiceover purposes, I think) who was given those same scripts, and there were some translation quirks that were also shared by the Portuguese dub. One notable one was Beryl's name being rendered as Peril).
And re: Portugal getting SMC, the source was Danno (who's a trustworthy guy from what I've seen of him before), who e-mailed Dreamia (the company behind Panda and Biggs) asking stuff about possible series.
And if Crystal gets done by the company behind One Piece's dub it will probably have some voice actors from the original because I think Mamoru's portuguese voice actor is voicing someone from OP (Usopp maybe?).

Mamoru and Pegasus Seiya had the same voice actor in Portugal, but he didn't dub Yamcha unfortunately.

Re: Why is Toei reanimating Sailor Moon but not DBZ?
This is very common. Somebody from the Swedish staff also confirmed they were given horrible English scripts. Toei does this for nearly everything. The scripts have awful grammar, dated phrases, usually completely changed or mistranslated names, and are quite dated. I worked on the US release for Devilman, and the scripts we were given were the same Italy had.Puto wrote:Yeah, we (Portugal) got Sailor Moon straight from Japan back then. A lot of names for later characters, like the Witches 5 were mistranslated in pretty much every country, so it's safe to assume Toei was behind it. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they were behind some goofs in the Dragon Ball Z release too. (like "Launch" or "Tienshinhan")

With the talk of Swedish dub, did they do name changes or did they keep the original Japanese names for the characters. Funny enough, Sailor Moon was one of the first North American dubs where the names (of the important main characters) were close enough to the original or related in some pun for the old dub.
Re: Why is Toei reanimating Sailor Moon but not DBZ?
I don't see how Lita and Darien are any similar to Makoto or Mamoru.

Lita is the name of one of the planet Jupiter's many moons. And Darien means "guardian" which kinda fits his role.
Re: Why is Toei reanimating Sailor Moon but not DBZ?
I'm pretty sure the Swedish names were mostly the same. I just remember Usagi being called "Annie".Super Sonic wrote:With the talk of Swedish dub, did they do name changes or did they keep the original Japanese names for the characters. Even though I'm happy the anime finally got a decent dub, Sailor Moon will always be Serena to me. Same with all the dub names lol

This will always be a pertinent question from now on.Quebaz wrote: Didn't we get Sailor Moon from Japan? In 2014 Christmas, Panda Biggs aired: The Legend of Shenron. I got suprrised when I was zapping and saw that. Not only because I was caught off guard but because of the movie choice too. Now, DB is sarting again in SiC K under the name: Dragon Ball - The Beginning.
One Piece is back and we're are getting Sailor Moon Cristal. Probably, Sic Radical will get DB Kai Buu arc down the road too.
So yeah, that's a logic question.
I asked that question to Ricardo Spinola and Henrique Feist in Iberanime 2014 and they just said it would be difficult. They didn't seem interested either.
Take that as you want.
Using Disney/Dreamworks Movies as reference, I doubt BOG would do worse than Big Hero 6 or Frozen around here for example.
Makes me think if Antonio Semedo was still alive, this would be happening or not.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Sailor Moon Crystal will air on Japanese TV starting April this year, i wonder if it gonna take Buu Kai slot? http://crystalcomparisons.com/act7/ Why, why they had to kill one of few jokes with Umino? Why Toei?

I doubt it. TV Asahi produced the previous series. With World Trigger scheduled for four cours Digimon Adventure tri won't be able to take back its slot, so for it to replace Dragon Ball Kai makes more sense, as the first five series had aired in the 9AM Sunday slot on Fuji TV.coola wrote:Sailor Moon Crystal will air on Japanese TV starting April this year, i wonder if it gonna take Buu Kai slot? http://crystalcomparisons.com/act7/ Why, why they had to kill one of few jokes with Umino? Final episode of Dark Kingdom saga ended, and, after dissapointed that last 2 episodes were, I'm pleasantly surprised, i really enjoyed it, pacing was great, and almost no still shots, and seeing Human Luna make me hope that we gonna see rest of arcs adapted as well (In manga, Luna appeared in human form, in Kaguya special, while Artemis in SuperS) too bad we have to wait until 7th February to see Black Moon cast. I hope they gonna improve animation, through hearing about director blocking comments on Twitter make me think, that nothing gonna change. And please, no changes from manga, when character dies in manga, it should die.

I was also happy with the pacing this week. Giving the events of the plot time to breathe really does help.
Blocking twitter comments makes me sad.
I didn't know that was happening.
Human Luna was cool, especially nice to get to see her when we don't know if Crystal will last long enough to reach the point at which she originally first appears.
It helps that Smile was two Precures ago; I don't really hear Miyuki in ChibiUsa's voice, but it may be because I don't remember it that well.

Dark Kingdom 2014 was alright, better than Kai's handling of the Saiyan Arc arc at least.
Still, my favorite version is the the Toku PGSM. I think it handled Dark Kingdom the best.

Toru Furuya for Dimande hopefully.
I do think it is funny that Furuya still voices Yamcha, but all his other famous roles have been recast.
