Plus the Perfect Files re-release.

GT was by no means the original manga, not by a long shot, but it wasn't as super-terrible as people make it seem. Profit-wise, anyhow.

But it's impossible for DBO to happen after GT. In DBO, Piccolo is still alive, while he dies in GT, and Majin Boo never merged with Oob in DBO, like in GT. Instead, Boo expelled a woman version of himself (like he expelled Pure Evil Boo), named Booby, and then they made a family with lots of children, creating the Majin race. However, after having so many children, Boo's lifespan was shortened, and eventually he passed away.
Everything happens where everything happens. Dragon Ball Online doesn't suddenly affect Dragon Ball GT in anyway.
But GT itself prevents the events of DBO from happening.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

They both prevent each other from happening. So what do you do? Ignore both? No, you enjoy them both for what they are!

Let's pull it back around to Battle of Gods, please :).

Ok! What (if anything new) does everyone think they will reveal about BOG at Jump Festa next weekend?

Optimistically, I'm hoping for a new trailer and some more minor spoilers about the movie plot. (Maybe clear up what's going on with Pilaf Gang?)

An extended trailer, or at least some more information on what's in the current one, is what I'd bet on too. Maybe the reveal of that last figure too.

I mean, there has to be something for it there, right? Jump Festa is pretty much the biggest event they could reveal things at, right?

I think if they were going to do that, they'd set the movie between the end of Z and the start of GT.

Hey, he didn't kill Freeza. Some purple-haired kid from an alternate timeline did! Goku only kinda-killed him.

How awful if Future Trunks were to ever find out he himself was the one who indirectly endangered the entire galaxy's existence by stepping in to kill Freeza; it's like the exact opposite of the peaceful future he originally set out to achieve. Very morbidly interesting.

Jump Festa's definitely the biggest Jump event, I'm certain something will be revealed there.

Extended trailer would be nice; I want to see Virus show off more of his powers (and maybe more hints at who Uisu really is). I mean, something scared Vegeta. (Not that he hasn't been scared before, but...) I want to know what it was. >:3

The last figure...I feel like I want to place my bets on it being either a new movie-only transformation for Goku (my long-shot detailed guess at this is the kais will temporarily imbue him with some magical power that negates any effects of Virus' special powers so they can fight each other on even ground), or it's a 3rd new character that hasn't been revealed yet. I don't think Virus will have a 2nd form and I don't think it'll be Gogeta either.

Future Trunks is probably going to feel like shit, knowing that what he did leads to the destruction of possibly the universe.

I'm curious though, if anything interesting is shown in the power levels, would that affect the power levels overall in the series, such as making GT characters stronger than ever? Also, how much Pilaf and his goons are so young?

And would it be kinda epic if Arale appears in the movie and be the one that defeats the God of Destruction?

While the trailer did look awesome, I still can't feel hype up for the movie. I feel like that it might be average like the most of the DBZ movies.

To review, the plot summary says that after awakening from a long slumber, Bilus hears rumors about Freeza being defeated (not killed) by a Saiyan, and so he tracks down Goku. So far as we know there isn't any deeper connection between Bilus and Freeza beyond Freeza's defeat making Bilus go and check out the strong guy responsible. There could turn out to be a deeper connection, but we shouldn't take it for granted.

Ah, so it's "defeated", not "killed". That kind of absolves Future Trunks of indirect responsibility for all this. It's all Goku's fault then. XD Not only did he defeat Freeza, he decides he'll fight Virus even after Kaio-sama tells him not to. (And then loses.)

Not sure if Goku gets to learn some kind of lesson from all this, but depending on how badly Virus and Uisu mess things up, it may cause some tension. Not sure if it could reach OP movie 6 levels of crazy, but I'd like to see it try.

Isnt defeating and killing the same thing? I mean Trunks did defeat a stronger Freeza faster and more efficient then even what Goku could do at the time. If Birusu learned about (Future) Trunks I wonder if he'd even fight Goku? Maybe pick a fight with little Trunks?

Do we know what events are specifically happening for DBZ at Jump Festa? Maybe a voice actor panel? Or FLOW will perform their theme live? I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that not a ton of info actually comes out of Jump Festa. I mean, that trailer JUST dropped. Unless one of the VA's lets some info slip :P How likely do you think it is that Toriyama himself will show up??

Speaking of Toriyama, I wonder if we'll get any more work from him in Jump magazine to promote the movie? I bet we get at least a color illustration (besides the One Piece combo ticket). I'd LOVE for a new comic, if even just a single chapter. I bet anything he does do could probably end up in Shonen Jump Alpha, which is exciting!!

Defeating implies that you simply bested an opponent in a competition. It doesn't always mean that you outright killed someone.

All I know about the panel atm is that it takes place from 11:20am to 11:50am on the 22nd and is hosted by Masako Nozawa, Mayumi Tanaka, and Toshio Furukawa.

New artwork from Toriyama tying in to the movie would be wonderful; I'd be really curious to see how it looks in his art style compared to Yamamuro's.
