Character #267
Yamuhan
Or as he's known in the States, TIENCHA!
Image

He's the fusion between Yamcha and Tenshinhan. What is not to love about this three-eyed wall of pure human power!? With the fusion dance at their disposal, the two fan favorites achieve a new transformation. God forbid he ever masters the Kaioken technique, he'd give the Super Saiyans a run for their money.

Likes
-Dodohameha! The combination of the Dodonpa and Kamehameha was icing on the cake in Budokai 2.
-Wolf-fang Vollyball Fist
Little sprinkles upon the cake-icing. Such wonderful combinations.

Dislikes
He was only in Budokai 2, and never seen again. Let's cross our fingers for a return in Raging Blast!

The only thing I dislike in Yamhan's attacks is that his Wolf Fang Volleyball Fist is too short, it should be a fierce attack filled with punches and kicks and throws, it kinda disappointed me...

Also, Toriyama came up with Piririn, so he is actually more relevant than Onyu Tokusentai. I would say keep both.

I agree with keeping Piririn, but the Onyu Tokusentai are a parody external to the series, with that logic parody characters from anywhere can be added.

Technically Baby was actually the one who created Doctor Mu, so that Mu could help further Baby's development.

Character #267 (Right?)

<= Pokawat'a =>

{ I'm pretty sure I butchered the spelling. Think DB Episode 4.}

Likes: Oolong requested her by name. Got Goku to cross-dress, then pee in sight of Oolong.

Dislikes: Only purpose is to advance other characters...

I guess that's her dub name. She's not named in the original, not even in the credits.

Kid Buu I will count, but I won't count Gotenks Buu, Gohan Buu, or any of those type of characters. Their more like transformations instead of separate characters. It's like Cell gaining power from #17 and #18. He may have gained traits from them, but he's still Super Buu mostly.
Well with Cell, his personality didn't change when he absorbed 17 and 18, and he didn't really gain any traits from them. All he gained from them was a power boost and a change in appearance. With Buu, his personality changed when he absorbed Piccolo and Gotenks/Gohan. He became smarter, his speech was more eloquent, and he became more boastful. He was a considerably different Buu from the previous one in more than just appearance and power, whereas all that changed with Cell's transformations was his form and power level.

SHINOBI-03 claimedthey were characters from an "official" parody. I searched to see if it was an "official" parody, and found nothing claiming it was. They might be removed from the list....
DNA wrote:Also, Toriyama came up with Piririn, so he is actually more relevant than Onyu Tokusentai. I would say keep both.
Sure, he may have came up with him, but was he only featured in a Shonen Jump book. In fact, on Daizenshuu EX, it says this:
Daizenshuu EX Transformations Guide wrote:NOTES: FIRST APPEARS...

Never!
Piririn was merely a theoretical fusion Toriyama drew to get fans started for a contest where they would create their own "dream fusion" character.
So that's just it. He was only theoretical/hypothetical. Since my rules state no hypothetical characters, you can't include him.
Captain Awesome wrote:I agree with keeping Piririn, but the Onyu Tokusentai are a parody external to the series, with that logic parody characters from anywhere can be added.
Right, and I already mentioned that Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo is in most parts a parody of Dragon Ball Z. So in essence, the Onyu Tokusentai are just characters that happen to purposefully resemble the Ginyu Tokusentai, since the manga is simply used to parody characters who resemble the Ginyu Tokusentai.
Majin Buu wrote:Well with Cell, his personality didn't change when he absorbed 17 and 18, and he didn't really gain any traits from them. I change my mind. Since they appeared in the video games, include them.

Innagadadavida, please put Character #267 above Yamuhan.

It's actually 268, caejones....

So, all who are for removing the Onyu Tokusentai, please post so. Going once....

True, but Akira Toriyama also made Sand Land. Should we include those characters just because he created them and since he also created Dragon Ball?

No because Sandland has no connection whatsoever with Dragon Ball. If you said Dr. Slump I would have agreed with you.

My point exactly.

The Onyu Tokusentai manga has no relation to Dragon Ball except that it parodies characters from Dragon Ball and that it was drawn by a person who drew Dragon Ball manga. That's the only relations between the two.

Therefore, they shouldn't be included.

But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

For the record, the Demon Realm filler episode aired in September '87, while Kami was first mentioned in the manga March '88, and Enma appeared January '89.

Gora and Mera are named for the guardians of Hell Gozu and Mezu, right?

Man, Kunzait, how do you make such long-drawn-out explanations for every character? And with your latest post being 10 characters, that's 10x the amount.

Are there even any more characters to pick? Are there a few henchman that we missed? I'm sure that Garlic Jr's henchmen, or maybe Freeza's were left out somewhere. And Garlic has two sets of Henchmen, one in the first movie, and in the Garlic Jr saga.
Next quest: Buy the Super: Broly and Super Hero Blurays, also Daima whenever that releases in the states. Also the Super Manga!
