Here's one I used to believe: Rou Kaioshin turned Gohan into a pure-blooded Saiyan. His power comes from the fact that this made it possible for him to become the legendary Super Saiyan. That's why he didn't go SSJ against Boo.

Wouldn't that just make him weaker, since it would remove the whole "Saiyan blood mixes well with Earthling blood" aspect of his power?

I'd like to think so. The mixed blood was what made him a major player in the first place, so taking that away... Yeah. He wouldn't have been able to take down Buu like he did.

Because I watched the entire Dragonball saga, from the very first episode to GT, on bootleg videos two years before it DBZ aired on Cartoon Network Toonami, there wasn't a single rumor out there that I fell for. DBAF was a big one and I almost believed it until I asked the owner of a local comic book store if it was true. It seemed very hard to believe being that I saw the last episode of GT and was given no hint of a continuation. I was right.

I've decided to use my DB knowledge for evil and actually started rumors myself just mess with other kids.

Little White Lies I've Told:
-There's an uncut scene of Chichi and Goku "doing it" in the manga but they never showed it on Japanese TV. (To prove this obvious lie, I printed out a scan from a doujinshi by a group called "Rehabilitation." You know, from the infamous DBH comic.)

-Trunks is Bulma's and Goku's son from a alternate universe.

-Goku eventually turns evil. (I remember being asked by my little cousin why Goku in GT, I guess his SS4 form, looked so evil.)

-Vegeta dies from a fatal heart attack.

-Pan dies. Evil Goku kills her.

-Trunks dies. Just because.

-Goku dies.... Again. by Vegeta's hands.

-There's a TV special staring Goku and Vegeta Jr. looking for the Dragonballs without the aid of a Dragon radar.

-AF was actually in production but they decided to can it because "GT sucked so hard."

-Everyone dies. Evil Goku did it.

I'm going to be hated for this, but I was one of those kids which would tell some 'white lies' about Dragonball Z.

Actually it was a misunderstanding on my part. When the Cell Games was airing in the UK, I had attempted to download a Japanese episode which I only managed to get to 12% because I was on 56k. The episode's title on p2p networks was called "Gohan beats Cell with 2 punches" or something like that..

So I told my friend which was a fan that Gohan would beat Cell. He didn't believe me and went on about how Gohan was weak and that Goku would beat him.

I got annoyed and said "NO! GOHAN'S GOING TO BEAT HIM WITH 2 PUNCHES! I'VE SEEN THE EPISODE IN JAPANESE!!!".

Yeah.. I was somewhat correct I guess.

I remember back in like 97 I thought Vegeta transformed into a Super Saiyan for the first time at the Tenkaichi Budokai. This was mainly because the only clip I saw of it was some really shitty realplayer clip that was so pixelated I thought the ground was tiled.

I can't remember most of them anymore, though I do remember hearing and semi-believing that SSJ3 Goku was a man sized golden Oozaru. Not like SSJ4 but an actual Oozaru the size of a person. And that SSJ4 and SSJ5 were the same thing, just with SSJ and SSJ2 style hair. XD

I can't think of any others. Though I know one piece of truth I thought was wrong for the longest time. I kept seeing screen shots of SSJ Kid Goku from GT labeled as Goku and thinking they were mislabeled and that it was Goten. >>

Not really a rumor I was told, per se, but one that I sort of conjured up. Most older fans will remember seeing the various toys and figures for characters whose episodes/movies hadn't aired on television or been released yet. I remember looking at the back of the boxes and seeing a line of characters and wondering what their respective sagas would be like.

For instance, I assumed that there was some really awesome Meta Cooler saga in which Freeza's brother came back for revenge (I guess I was half-right). I also assumed Vegito (spelled Vegetto on the box I think) was Vegeta's brother and that there'd be a great saga with him as the main villain (totally wrong). To put this into perspective, this would have been around December of 1999, so the only DB-related things I knew about were the Saiyan-Freeza episodes, dubbed. I couldn't wait until the airing of the Garilc Junior saga because I just knew it was going to be the next great storyline where Goku would fight some evil, powerful monster who was stronger than Freeza. Moreover, until a few months later, I didn't find out about Cell or the Artificial Humans, or about the existence of the original series for that matter.

Well, a guy told me that DBAF existed and that I could buy the first episode on a CD from him for 2$.
I told him that I won't be fooled that easily, and that he could go to someone else to scam them.
I knew by that time that there was no thing such as DBAF.

I heard this a lot when people in my class were reading the 23rd budokai arc at the same time that Trunks appeared on TV. People were using Bulma's "maybe I picked wrong" comment to mean that in Trunks' timeline, she challenged Chichi to a battle of the wits for the right to marry Goku. Trunks' future was the present of the parallel reality (which neither explains Trunks' age nor future Gohan's presence.

I heard this as an excuse to avoid a paradox in Trunks' timeline that assumed Trunks and Cell's timelines were the same. Essentially, Trunks "somehow" must be killed by Cell before he went back in time.

-Goku dies.... Again. by Vegeta's hands.

I heard this as a GT rumor. Baby Vegeta was actually SSJ5 Vegeta, who got drunk on his power and killed SSJ4 Goku.

Lies I started to shut some stubborn ignoramous of a classmate:
Members of the elite are chosen based on birth PLs (turns out this is true). Those who have power levels over 120 (so that their Oozaru form is greater than the average non-Oozaru Saiyan) are considered elite. The reason King Vegeta was scared of Broly's 10,000 PL is because the strongest born before him, ever, was Vegeta (which is why Freeza saw him as a pet) which was 500.

It's not really a 'lie' if it isn't known for sure. It's speculation. Rou Dai Kaioshin told him to go super, he did, he ended up powered up without transforming. Rou Dai Kaioshin said that transformations were 'show biz'.

Then again, Goku then asks if they should be Super Saiyajin before fusing, and he says no, as well as, "You'll still be able to go Super Saiyajin after fusing, but I don't think you'll need to."

So yeah, whether or not Gohan can or can't is debatable. I also wonder if the plurals got mixed up in the Viz translation, and whether Goku was only referring to himself rather than both him and Gohan.

But seriously, why wouldn't he? Gohan perfected Super Saiyan 1, he had no problems using it. Gotenks-Buu nearly killed him, with only Dende's intervention saving his life. But he never even attempts to go Super.

You could say that he didn't use SSJ2 on Dabura, too. But as Onikage pointed out, he never really trained to use SSJ2 at will. So yeah, you'd think of 'Mystic' Gohan had SSJ available he would have used it when things got rough...

Gohan didn't even get a zenkai from being beat nearly to death. Mystic is literally every possible scrap of power he had.
