Alright folks, I'm short on sleep, but I feel I have to make this post because I'm getting a little pissed. Now I don't normally rant, but seriously, what the fuck are some of you people thinking? Just because you have access to the internet doesn't mean you have to do completely stupid things on it. I have no idea why, but I've seen most of the videos people are posting about
TeamFourStar's account suspesion on YouTube. I even posted a comment to a
video Kuhan posted:
Hujio wrote:Um... I won't actually respond to the subject of the video, but I'm curious why you used the logo for "Majin Kaiser"? That's not a company, it's a mecha OVA series. Besides, "Majin Kaiser" wasn't even produced by Toei, the company responsible for removing TFS from YouTube. However, the OVA was broadcast and distributed by Bandai. Is that the DragonBall-related company angle you were looking for?
Now I don't mean to pick on you
Kuhan, but needless to say, if you're going to post something, put some research into it. Did you just find some random anime logo written in Japanese, thought it said Toei Animation, and just used it? Toei Animation had absolutely nothing to do with "Majin Kaiser". Nothing! Not only does it make your video have absolutely no credibility, which it barely had to begin with, but then you totally shot it down the crapper when you started dropping the "Fuck You!" card. I think people these days totally underestimate just how seriously some people won't take a video or post simply based on the fact that it just swears at them most of the time. Can't people just put their arguments in well thought out forms so more people can take them seriously?
I would also like to address one common mistake people make while complaining; non-fact based opinions hold absolutely no weight in an argument. If you pull facts out of your ass, they're not facts; they're your opinions, that have come out of your ass.
Case and point.
One of the most common arguments I've heard so far is that they put a disclaimer at the beginning of every episode. That's like saying, "Since I put a disclaimer that I don't acutally own the rights to distribute this material, that now gives me the right to distribute this material." Seriously?! That'll hold up in court real well.
I've also heard people saying, "Well this isn't fair. There are still full episodes of DragonBall Z on YouTube. Why didn't those get taken down?". My guess would be they went after the largest distributor on YouTube. Why go after the 10 year old putting up crappy fansubs that are getting 15 hits when you can go after the big fish. And honestly, why wouldn't they? TeamFourStar is a very well known and popular group. FUNimation knows about them; even FUNi's voice actors have mentioned them specifically.
In the end, people can complain all they want about TeamFourStar being removed from YouTube by Toei. But in reality, there's legally nothing you can do. Toei has every legal right to remove their content and suspend their account. Copyright infringement is still copyright infringement. That fact doesn't change just because you like or enjoy the content they put out. I'm sad too that their account was suspended, but I'm not about to make a fool out of myself and the DragonBall community just to get it back. I hope everyone around here will do the same. Here are some examples of what not to do:
- "Dragon Ball Z Abridged is amazing. Fuck you Toei!" Yeah, that'll help get your show back... And they'll have to listen to you now, because you just told them they're a bunch of fuckers.
- There's one video (you know who you are!) that shows a gun pointing at Toei's logo and blood flying out the other side, like it has been shot. Then at the end you say, "...kindly show your support by sending Toei Animation a message telling them just how unhappy their viewers are." Yes, kindly shoot Toei with a gun. That'll send a message.
- "TeamFourStar was one of the hugest channels on the entire YouTube universe." It's the hugest!! And it is located "on" a universe!... Nice one.
- "So YouTube goes and suspends one of the most influential parody channels in the entire universe, and possibly the entire internet." Okay, are you implying the internet, something that has no actual volume or mass, is larger than the entire universe? I can't even touch this one, let alone the rest of the video.
While I sarcastically applaud you all for your efforts, if you really want to voice your complaints, write Toei a
respectful e-mail or letter telling them why you think they should allow TeamFourStar to continue using their copyrighted material. However, I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.
