Yeah, I know about him, but I have no idea what his YouTube page is.
That's why I just typed in the name and thought that would bring me there.
(Which is an awful assumption on my part because the person on YouTube who's got my name isn't me. I'm WildwoodDaze there.)

I assumed what I found on the above link was his page with all the bootlegged stuff deleted by YouTube, but it seemed weird to me because if it was his page, I'd think Toei would've had his whole account suspended the way they did TFS.

Has he not been reported yet because he's not as well-known?
The Gokuden you're thinking of goes by the same name there as he went by here: Gokuden553.

WHOA! There are full dbz episodes on that account.
(Isn't that the sort of thing that Toei would want to delete, and not TFS? )

The number of hits compared to TFS though are very small.

I'm almost certain now that Toei was not aware that TFS is infact a parody; as in, I don't think they actually watched any of the Abridged episodes before they decided to get the whole account taken down.

It also makes me think that they were clicking the "view count" button when they went to go do this.
On hiatus.

I'd Assume so, My video of my friend and I dicking around with a DBZ clip is still up with no problem, but its probably because it only has 39 views.

Its really quite bad...

Unfortunately, their videos on http://thatguywiththeglasses.com just link back to their suspended YouTube vids. However, between his site and places like DaizEX they'll at least be able to stay in communication with the fans and point us to wherever they end up hosting the vids, if YouTube doesn't work out. Having other fans reupload the material helps too.

The suspension is a real shame. Some of my vids had been pulled a while back as well (jamming on guitar over studio tracks). The production/record companies are shooting themselves in the collective foot. DBZ Abridged in particular recalls nostalgia both within the show and surrounding it, and helps keep my interest in DBZ kindled. If anything, Toei should be trying to take advantage of something that helps regenerate interest in an old product.

Whether you agree with the final result or not, moments like Funi's Dragon Box Z presentation incorporating the "Over 9000" meme, or even the third X-Men film working in "I'm the Juggernaut, bitch" demonstrate acknowledgment and appreciation of the fan community. By removing TeamFourStar's work, they're distancing themselves from their fanbase, as well as cutting off material that has been helping to keep their own product relevant.
I can see their parachutes.

It only cuts them off from their English speaking fanbase, whom Toei has demonstrated time and time again they don't give a crap about.

I've been heading to a lot of the account's I like (ThePetSounds, ballpen4, colonelsilver, etc.) and they're not even loading... at all. I'm thinking they're in the process of either having videos removed, or suspened all together.

Toei, is this the price for you Dragon Box masters?!

Weird cause they love our money.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Um, if anyone cares, SSJGozar is still doing fine with his Alternate Reality series. He's also created a back-up account, just in case.

Someone probably already mentioned this...

I'm sure youtube doesn't give a damn about your video.

More amusing though...

Hujio made a well thought out post that you deleted...

sorta hypocritical of you isn't it?

(I also am amused that you apparently weren't smart enough to track down the Toei logo, which is all over the place, and instead stuck in a mazinkaiser logo...)

I'm sure your brilliant well thought out argument will convince 'the youtubes' to allow the videos back.

TeamFourStar is Suspended, Here's How to Help Bring Them Back!

From Lani's blog

Contact link: https://reg18.smp.ne.jp/regist/is?SMPFO ... 5a5b4831f0

This is what I wrote:
Dear TOEI ANIMATION,

I'm one of the many Dragon Ball Z fans who were very disappointed from the removal of all DBZ-related videos from Youtube, and especially the fan parody "Dragon Ball Z Abridged" by TeamFourStar.

They did nothing wrong. They were just doing a fan parody of the show, and not premiering the real one.

Before each of their episodes, they give us the same message: "The follwing is a fan-based parody. Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and Dragon Ball GT are all owned by FUNimation, TOEI Animation, Fuji TV and Akira Toriyama. Please support the official release".

Everything they do is free. They don't ask for money. Why asking Youtube to suspend their account?

Please rethink your decision, or you'll make a lot of fans very upset.

I can't really say for sure, but it said "Comment removed by author." Which tells me that the person who wrote it deleted it. Maybe not... Just a thought.

This is pretty sad. Team Fourstar was definitely keeping a lot of the fanbase enguaged in DBZ. I know my roomate got into DBZ because of it and went on to buy lots of DBZ products (though as I already own the whole show outside of us splitting cost on the dragon box he hasnt bought the show).

If it went down with full episode places I'd understand. However those places seem to have made it through, leaving me to ask, Toei WTF?

Alright folks, I'm short on sleep, but I feel I have to make this post because I'm getting a little pissed. Now I don't normally rant, but seriously, what the fuck are some of you people thinking? Just because you have access to the internet doesn't mean you have to do completely stupid things on it. I have no idea why, but I've seen most of the videos people are posting about TeamFourStar's account suspesion on YouTube. I even posted a comment to a video Kuhan posted:
Hujio wrote:Um... I won't actually respond to the subject of the video, but I'm curious why you used the logo for "Majin Kaiser"? That's not a company, it's a mecha OVA series. Besides, "Majin Kaiser" wasn't even produced by Toei, the company responsible for removing TFS from YouTube. However, the OVA was broadcast and distributed by Bandai. Is that the DragonBall-related company angle you were looking for?
Now I don't mean to pick on you Kuhan, but needless to say, if you're going to post something, put some research into it. Did you just find some random anime logo written in Japanese, thought it said Toei Animation, and just used it? Toei Animation had absolutely nothing to do with "Majin Kaiser". Nothing! Not only does it make your video have absolutely no credibility, which it barely had to begin with, but then you totally shot it down the crapper when you started dropping the "Fuck You!" card. I think people these days totally underestimate just how seriously some people won't take a video or post simply based on the fact that it just swears at them most of the time. Can't people just put their arguments in well thought out forms so more people can take them seriously?

I would also like to address one common mistake people make while complaining; non-fact based opinions hold absolutely no weight in an argument. If you pull facts out of your ass, they're not facts; they're your opinions, that have come out of your ass. Case and point.

One of the most common arguments I've heard so far is that they put a disclaimer at the beginning of every episode. That's like saying, "Since I put a disclaimer that I don't acutally own the rights to distribute this material, that now gives me the right to distribute this material." Seriously?! That'll hold up in court real well.

I've also heard people saying, "Well this isn't fair. There are still full episodes of DragonBall Z on YouTube. Why didn't those get taken down?". My guess would be they went after the largest distributor on YouTube. Why go after the 10 year old putting up crappy fansubs that are getting 15 hits when you can go after the big fish. And honestly, why wouldn't they? TeamFourStar is a very well known and popular group. FUNimation knows about them; even FUNi's voice actors have mentioned them specifically.

In the end, people can complain all they want about TeamFourStar being removed from YouTube by Toei. But in reality, there's legally nothing you can do. Toei has every legal right to remove their content and suspend their account. Copyright infringement is still copyright infringement. That fact doesn't change just because you like or enjoy the content they put out. I'm sad too that their account was suspended, but I'm not about to make a fool out of myself and the DragonBall community just to get it back. I hope everyone around here will do the same. Here are some examples of what not to do:
  • "Dragon Ball Z Abridged is amazing. Fuck you Toei!" Yeah, that'll help get your show back... And they'll have to listen to you now, because you just told them they're a bunch of fuckers.
  • There's one video (you know who you are!) that shows a gun pointing at Toei's logo and blood flying out the other side, like it has been shot. Then at the end you say, "...kindly show your support by sending Toei Animation a message telling them just how unhappy their viewers are." Yes, kindly shoot Toei with a gun. That'll send a message.
  • "TeamFourStar was one of the hugest channels on the entire YouTube universe." It's the hugest!! And it is located "on" a universe!... Nice one.
  • "So YouTube goes and suspends one of the most influential parody channels in the entire universe, and possibly the entire internet." Okay, are you implying the internet, something that has no actual volume or mass, is larger than the entire universe? I can't even touch this one, let alone the rest of the video.
While I sarcastically applaud you all for your efforts, if you really want to voice your complaints, write Toei a respectful e-mail or letter telling them why you think they should allow TeamFourStar to continue using their copyrighted material. However, I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.

Especially when we talked about the same stuff before.

Nice to see it put so cleanly.

Actually, considering it's a parody that only uses small portions of the source material, I think it would hold up just fine.

What I'm curious about is why the parody argument doesn't hold up. Are parodies allowed only when they don't directly use the original material (ie, a Matt Groening-drawn Donkey Kong showing up in an episode of The Simpsons vs. TeamFourStar using actual clips from Dragon Ball Z in the Abridged series)? Does seem like kind of a dick move for TeamFourStar to be deleted without warning over a legal gray area regardless, though. They could've at least been given an advance notice.
