I read the update on the main page about how the first disc didn't place that high on dvd and didn't get on the blu-ray list at all.
I guess its one of those series people would rather watch than buy; as I've seen the TV ratings for Kai dwarf a good number of shows in the ratings that beat Kai out in dvd/blu-ray sales.
I still want the discs to sell well so that there'd be a higher chance of Toei actually making something (movie? Jump special?) brand-new from-scratch for DB.

I must say, it is pretty odd that they did a 16:9 for broadcast AND DVD, but for the Blu-ray you get the 4:3 (which hey, no complaints if it has more picture). This is Toei though (I say that knowing how they handled the first batch of 16:9 One Piece episodes with a 4:3 DVD release cropping the sides off).

According to http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/20 ... mber-14-20 the blu-ray's bumped up the next week from 7 to 3.
Is it normal for dvds to go up the week after instead of down?

I believe the bumped up from not being on the list to 7.Chuquita wrote:According to http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/20 ... mber-14-20 the blu-ray's bumped up the next week from 7 to 3.
EDIT: read Hujio's post below.

I didn't realize this was so confusing, but this even confused Mike enough that he updated the main site with this misinformation. Here's the thing, ANN just posted the Blu-ray ratings for last week last night. This is something that ANN has always done which kind of annoys me. They're always behind in these sort of things, just like with the TV ratings. You have to be careful and make sure you're looking at the right week when use these articles as a source.Chuquita wrote:According to http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/20 ... mber-14-20 the blu-ray's bumped up the next week from 7 to 3.

Anyway, the article Mike sourced on the main page was "Japanese Animation Blu-ray Disc Ranking, September 7-13". The Blu-ray and DVD weren't released until September 18, so obviously the Blu-ray wasn't on this list, because it hadn't been released yet. If you look at the correct list, "Japanese Animation Blu-ray Disc Ranking, September 14-20", you'll see that on the first week of its release, the Blu-ray was ranked 7th. Now, he did get the DVD rankings right.
I will say, I didn't realize he got this wrong until last night, since I didn't look to closely at his post back on the 23rd. Basically, the main thing you should take from this is that the Blu-ray way outdid the DVD, and was actually ranked.

Is the blue-ray version 4:3? I've read somewhere that is but just want to make sure.

Wow I love the cover on the #6 DVD
[Popo and Bulma]
It was quite unexpected and pretty refreshing for 'new art'.

Going to be ordering the Vol.1 and the Blu-ray box soon so I'll have the first 15 episodes...
Pretty expensive, if you ask me... But I know amazon has them for cheaper.
Anyone on here use Amazon Japan? Because I have never used it before and I have no idea how it works. If anyone can help, that would be great.

Re: Dragon Ball Kai DVD\Blu-ray Dissection!
I used amazon.co.jp to buy the Blu-ray. I'm Italian and in 4 working days it arrived.

Okay, but how does it work? I already figured out I can't use my current Amazon account on Amazon Japan.Luka wrote:I used amazon.co.jp to buy the Blu-ray. I'm Italian and in 4 working days it arrived.
Re: Dragon Ball Kai DVD\Blu-ray Dissection!
Yes, in fact you have to create a new account.. I don't know why..
