Yeah, I only found out a few days ago how bad the English version was, when my brother was watching it in the room. The inner monologue kills the idea of a him losing all thought and just erupting. I hadn't seen it in like nine years, I can't believe how bad it is.

The Japanese version is my favourite scene in the anime.

This is a pretty interesting topic. Although I like the original version the best (so good I actually get chills every time I watch it), some of the other ones were pretty decent. Spirit vs. Spirit fits perfectly with the scene. Can't really make a clear comparison between them, apart from the Italian one--halfway through, Gohan sounded like he was crying like a toddler or something.

I agree, the music and monologue in the English dub pretty much kills it for me.
