Re: Japanese Dragon Box Z Volume 1 for sale
That's $4,200 WELL spent. I've probably spent that on my whole collection probably.

Well, considering you got the entire series remastered and almost every DB-related clips ever made. Yes, it's a well spent.LeprikanGT wrote:That's $4,200 WELL spent. I've probably spent that on my whole collection probably.

Why do you think FUNimation split the Dragon Boxes into seven sets?LeprikanGT wrote:The JP Dragonboxes are huge and glorious and amazing. Because U.S. fans wouldn't pay the price the REAL dboxes are worth because they don't know what they are missing.Greenman wrote:Why do you think FUNimation split the Dragon Boxes into seven sets?LeprikanGT wrote:The JP Dragonboxes are huge and glorious and amazing. Who said that we wouldn't get the extras from the Japanese version?LeprikanGT wrote:Because U.S. fans wouldn't pay the price the REAL dboxes are worth because they don't know what they are missing.Greenman wrote:Why do you think FUNimation split the Dragon Boxes into seven sets?LeprikanGT wrote:The JP Dragonboxes are huge and glorious and amazing. I'm not saying we will but there's still a chance we'll get them in the 7th box
Also, I appreciate the re-releases by Funi because otherwise I wouldn't be able to get anything as good as the Dragon Boxes, they're the first series of Dragonball DVDs I've ever bothered with and I think they're amazing, even if I do need a multi-region DVD player

@AnimeMaakuo Don't get me wrong. I LIKE the Japanese Dragon Boxes. If I have to choose between Kai JPN Box Sets and The Japanese Dragon Boxes, I choose the Japanese Dragon Boxes.

I very much agree with this sentiment.

Re: Japanese Dragon Box Z Volume 1 for sale
A few things.
1) We still don't know what, if anything, will be left out of FUNi's Dragon Boxes. So all the extra stuff above and beyond the 291 episodes might be a moot point.
2) There are oversized DVD sets on store shelves. Just not many of them. The G.I. JOE complete series should be in Best Buy as we speak. Although there will probably only be one on the shelf at a given time.
3) The Japanese Dragon Boxes are stupidly overpriced and anybody saying otherwise is probably fooling themselves. That oversized G.I. JOE complete series set? $150. Oversized Transformers complete series set? $130. Oversized Batman: TAS complete series set? $130. Every single one of these sets have only slightly fewer than 100 episodes in addition to a number of special features. So there is no reason in hell that each individual Dragon Box should have cost over $1000. I don't care what kind of remastering they did. Unless gathering all the boxes actually granted a wish, nothing could justify a 567% increase.

Re: Japanese Dragon Box Z Volume 1 for sale
DBZ isn't my favorite nor did it get the best box art(sorry), Dragon Ball got the best box art(the movies are epic and it's on my table..can't fit it in my cabinet
) Anyway, I'd pay more for DB than Z as it has better packaging and just looks far cooler in the collection.

Re: Japanese Dragon Box Z Volume 1 for sale
I think this argument is pretty senseless.
Value is in the eye of the consumer, if someone feels that $1K USD is worth it for that product, then hell, it's worth it to him.
I personally couldn't justify spending an extra what (I've been paying 35 dollars on each of my dragon boxes...so after the release is completed...245 dollars?) 735 USD on those extras. That's just absurd to me lol.
Some people feel it's worth it.
It's really whatever, at the core of it, the episode content, that content is pretty much identical. That's what matters to me, I just wish we had the extra NEPs with promotions for the movies and stuff, but again, 700+ dollars for that is absurd, at least to me.

Re: Japanese Dragon Box Z Volume 1 for sale
There are TONS of DVD items that are bigger than regular DVD cases. Just look at any "Complete Series" set, like shows that ran for 9+ seasons have huge boxes. I think that excuse was just BS.

Not to mention that the japanese dragon boxes (I think) don`t even have english subs! I actually like to understand what is being said in the show...

IF...and that is apparently a big IF, they had the dragonboxes WITH everything that the JP ones came with AND had a Dub track on it; I would more than happily pay a few hundred dollars for all 5 boxes.rereboy wrote:I agree.Jon Jon wrote:I think this argument is pretty senseless.

Wow. I'd pay a few hundred dollars for the set too! Let me know if you find all five for a few hundred dollars!
Do you follow the most comprehensive and entertaining Dragon Ball analysis series on YouTube? If you do, you're smart and awesome and fairly attractive. If not, see what all the fuss is about without even having to leave Kanzenshuu:

Re: Japanese Dragon Box Z Volume 1 for sale
I don`t care about the dub track. I just want to understand the original (aka subs in a language that I understand).
The lack of such, to me, automatically makes the japanese dragon boxes not very "watchable". They would be cool as a collector`s item, without ever being opened, but the price difference compared to the american ones is insane. The few extras that the american ones don`t have (yet) are not worth the price difference for any "average hardcore" fan (and those extras may still come with the last american box).
As for the 7 volumes instead of 2 and their size difference, they look good either way, so its just a matter of taste, really.
