Is there any particular reason you folks can't have a pleasant conversation with each other? Why does it need to resort to cursing, sarcasm, and passive-aggressive attacks?

Issuing a formal warning against your account, Rocketman, since you've been given far too many free passes over this stuff before. I get it -- you've got your little shtick with how you talk about things. That's enough, though.

Stay on-topic, be cool folks to one another, and you'll have no issues.

Well, you've got me there. I mean, we all remember how CSI or House or Burn Notice would cut away to woodland animals frolicking to give the audience a break from the interesting happenings.
Also, the key difference is that Burn Notice and such aren't releasing an episode a week all year, all the while struggling to keep some space between itself and the manga.

So I'm thankful for filler, in that it allowed us to get the full story in anime form, rather than a 26 episode story that runs straight into a dead end of a closing, like many other anime series have.

Thing is, even a lot of those series have random filler episodes.

It's understandable to prefer Kai, but not to the extent where people who don't need to be chastised.

I simply can't understand why they just don't put the show on hold for a couple of weeks everytime they feel they are getting too close to the manga or why they don't simply plan ahead and plan a lot less episodes per year, never having the problem of catching up with the manga.

Doing large amounts of filler seems to really be the worst choice for avoiding catching up with the manga.

But, as I've said, this doesn't make Kai any better. Kai was the worst choice for a remake and it hardly has a point besides milking DBZ even more under a different name and presentation.

I guess maybe they preferred to keep their time-slot in place.

Because a weekly show makes more money.

Very true, the more they put out the more money they got. I prefer shows that would play once a week instead of maybe a month of show then a month break or something like that.

I remember someone mentioning how the show would cut to something random between the 'real action'; I actually enjoy those moments, even if it was filler or something of Roshi explaining things or him staring blankingly talking to himself about the fight he wishes he could help in.

Yeah, true. So basically they are willing to sacrifice quality (in pacing, presentation and story) for a higher and immediate pay.

Yep, that's basically it. I can understand liking the filler since everyone's free to have their own opinion, but I chuckle when people try to justify it by saying it has some kind of artistic merit, be it to break up the pace or add to the show, when the majority was just so they could keep making episodes at a weekly pace without catching up so that they could make more money. It comes down to opinion, but in my opinion they sacrificed quality for money.

I also think the abundance of filler shows why the one episode a week every week format is deeply flawed, but that's semi-off-topic.

If anything Kai gave us a redub of the part of the series that needed it the most. Is the Boo Saga TV dub perfect? Of course not. The script is still incorrect in a lot of places, even in the uncut dub things like Goku's bet with the Elder Kaioshin get lost in the rewrites. But the Freeza Saga dub needed Kai the most. I'm holding out that Kai is just taking a break to distance itself from this Yamamoto garbage and will be back at a later date. It's happened with shows before. If it doesn't come back, I'll always be glad I chose to invest my money in the Dragon Box release instead of Kai (although I did buy the first two Kai volumes and might get the others if the prices keep dropping).

Given the chance to start over fresh, FUNimation did about as well as they could've done on the Kai dub. I'm not really mad about Kai ending where it did because I've always found the Boo Saga to be the least entertaining of them all, but I know some people are partial to it and its unfortunate that they'll miss out.

You are speaking about the same TLA where the whole episodes were wasted on showing characters going to the theatre or playing on the beach?

To be fair, that theater episode was awesome.

Yes, but technically they were "bad, bad fillers" that had nothing to do with main plot-line.
