Chaozu pretty much does nothing but sacrifice himself to try to save Tenshinhan in DBZ too, unfortunately. And a lot of people hate him because of his design and the fact that he doesn't get to do much.
I don't see how that changes if you include original DB. Both are continual losers.
I guess the difference is that Yamcha gets more time to shine, so to speak. In DB, he causes some damage to a hungry Goku with his Roga Fu-Fu Ken. Later, he defeats Suke-san. At the 22nd TB, he puts up a good fight against Tenshinhan. At the 23rd TB, he manages to hit God with his Soki-dan.

While in Z, he defeats the Saibaimen (who subsequently self-destructs, killing them both) and is on the sidelines for the rest of the series.

But Chaozu's never really had a time to shine, both in DB or Z. At the 22nd TB, he gives Kuririn a hard time, but that's pretty much it, at least battle-wise.

So do you hate Vegeta because he gets beat up a lot and makes tons of stupid mistakes?
No, I'm just saying advising people who dislike Yamcha because he loses fights to watch Dragonball, where he loses even more fights, is kinda weird.
Well, Rocketman I get what you are saying that Yamcha basically loses 99% of the time. However in DB at least his fights are memorable. Compare his loss to Tenshinan to his loss to Dr. Gero....the latter fight doesn't even like it was a fight.

I like all of the humans (whom most peole hate for being minor characters in Z and GT)

Especially Yamcha, so what if he used to date Bulma, is human and loses most of his major fights, at least he tried to help Goku most the time before it became all about Super Saiyans.
He will always be my #1 favourite character.

and I also like Chichi, she actually means very well for her children, she only worries and gets angry over Gohan's studies because she wants the best for him.
She is not the selfish harpy bitch like most people say she is.

Also on the other hand, like the rest of the forum I don't like Broly (who is very popular outside the forum)
Wishes she can change her name to YamchaFan (her name everywhere else)
Obssessed with the Earthlings and the original DB anime

Thirded. It's just that the series (in particular, the anime emphasizes on it) portrays her as this bitch because she's interfering in what is a predominantly action-oriented series, so anyone that doesn't want their son to get the crap beaten out of him is suddenly "the bad guy".

Maybe we should differ that? For me liking character and feel sympathy for him are separate matters.
So maybe about sympathy.

Fourthed? :P

Well... time for confession. I feel pity for Brolly. It must hurt to be so bad written character. :( But I kinda like him, because no fanfic is able to spoil him more than official version. And he makes me feel that I want to cut him and see his internal organs. I have similar crush to Frieza, but in that case I would do it with love.

I don't feel sympathy Sayians from Vegetasei. King Vegeta's rebellion hurts me with it's stupidity. Bardock was a jerk loving killing and destruction. The fact that he was killed by stronger being doesn't help them in any way.

Fifthed? Is that a word? If so, fifthed
Oh, you think the Grand Tour is your ally, you merely stepped into the Grand Tour. I was born in it, moulded by it. I didn’t see the Super until I was already a man; by then, it was nothing to me but blinding!
