What's the story with Gohan/Bulma/Frieza's VA's replacements

Yeah, that was my slight problem with Nadolny's voice work for Gohan, too. It sounded too old and mature for the character in those early portions. I rather liked it for Goku, but that's a whole different story. We see 'Kid Goku' from ages 12 to 15. A slightly deeper and goofier pubescent voice is totally appropriate for that. But for 'Kid Gohan,' whom we see from ages 4 to 11... not so much. At least, not until the Cell Games era anyway. We've already heard some work from Ms. Clinkenbeard as the slightly-older Cell Games preteen Gohan in recent video games and such, and it sounds pretty good. Should be something to really look forward to once Kai's dub hits that point.

^ I agree. It seemed that ever since the saban era up until Kai, Gohan's voice actors had been trying to give the character a (paraphrasing DBZU here), "tough kid act," which doesn't fit Gohan in any way objectively speaking. Gohan is supposed to be anything but tough. Even when he's kicking Cell's ass he should still have a softness in his voice that contrasts with his combat loving father. Even when he is SSJ2 he still should have a gentleness in his tone.

Stephanie just wasn't right for the part in any way shape or form. She was an ok kid Goku, but a horrid Gohan.

As for Vollmer, I can't fathom how anyone can prefer her to Monica Rial. Seriously, someone explain to me why she sounds better.

I thought she was nice as Gohan but she was really terrific as a young Goku in DB.

I don't understand this mentality at all.

Just why not? I'm serious. You get actors with more convincing acting ability, who are more appropriate to what the original creator was trying to convey with their characters, and you have an attitude of "THE NEW VOICES ARE HORRIBLE. THE OLD ONES ARE SO MUCH BETTER."

Do you only listen to a music artist's older albums because "their new stuff sucks"? Is it because it's "jumping on the bandwagon"? Did you like English Dragon Ball "before it was cool"?

The previous actors had such over the top character voices that any dramatic tension was nearly (or completely) gone. It may have worked for the previous dub's script that they basically wrote from the ground up for young U.S. audiences, however they clash with the new iteration whose main focus was accuracy to its original version.

It's not surprising to see how one could believe you are practically covering your ears, screaming "LA LA LA, I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!"

That mentality is quite easy to understand.

Besides, those Season Sets aren't going anywhere, anyway.
