I agree with you. Though I'd only say that maybe a handful of episodes look "gorgeous", but overall the show looks decent and holds up. If you look (I mean, reaally look) at many modern anime, they take a lot more shortcuts due to the shift to digital animation. Unless it's a AAA title like Death Note or Moribito or Gundam, many mid-to-low budget anime nowadays have even lower frame rates than they did in the 90's. I will agree that modern anime tend to look sharper and more defined (maybe that's why people say newer anime looks better), but the actual quality of the animation (movement) is still debatable.TheMightyOzaru wrote:I disagree, other than the crappier animated episodes, the animation is gorgeous. I'd say for the most part, DB/DBZ manages to do what many anime (old or new) haven't quite gotten right... pull off a sense of fast motion and intensity in the action, even with the many limitations they had. It says much about the talent of the animators Toei were employing back in that day, as well the fact that they using such a great manga as a "storyboard" for the show.
