I meant when he blasted 3rd form Freeza with the masenko. For the duration of that attack, due to his rage, he was stronger than Piccolo and Vegeta.

Badly worded by me, I mean he got strong enough that he could be within fighting range against Freeza to catch him off guard, but it wasn't stronger than Vegeta/Piccolo. It's like when Piccolo caught final form Freeza off guard. He was NOT stronger than him .

You don't think that Gohan surpassed Piccolo and Vegeta with this attack? Freeza had been playing with Piccolo beforehand, and Vegeta at this point was weaker than Freeza's second form. Freeza even looked shocked (scared?) during the attack.
I don't have him being stronger than Freeza. He did manage to repel the attack after all.

I personally didn't, did not seem that way to me. In my view, he just managed to catch Frieza off guard, which made the attack look all the more vicious because, as you said, Frieza had been toying with Piccolo and wasn't powered up, so Gohan catching Frieza off guard and not powered up meant his rage boost (which I don't have as getting much higher than 4x, which is what Vegeta would need to surpass Goku, ESPECIALLY since at that point when people get stronger then multiplier is a lot less than back during the Frieza saga) was enough to stun Frieza for a while.

Huh, not saying you're wrong, but I didn't get that impression. Freeza's expressions during the blast indicated to me that Gohan was actually hurting him. And it is right after this attack that Freeza transforms, so if Gohan wasn't any stronger than the others, I don't see why Freeza would have bothered.

Well, a couple of years have passed. And Vegeta is a totally different person now. I can see him utilizing Goku's more efficient training methods and getting much stronger.
Also, he probably kept the power boost that Babidi gave him. At the end of the Buu Arc, he and Goku were essentially equal, aside from Goku being able to go SSJ3.

It's in the nature of shonen stories to have the rivals surpass and one-up each other all the time. We're used to Vegeta declaring that Goku is stronger than him because that was the end of the manga, but if the story continues then there's no reason to think that these two rivals will stop rivaling each other. DB Online even has them fighting a final battle in deep space and killing each other with supernovae; if Vegeta was so much weaker than Goku, then they would never have fought that battle (in DB Online).

Well, Goku and Vegeta are my #1 and #2 fav characters in the series in that order, the reason I find it offsetting is because well.....Goku has been shown superior . I dunno, maybe I'm looking too deep into it

Nah, I personally like Vegeta more as a character, but Goku is the main character, and while Vegeta occasionally manages to surpass him, Goku almost always ends up stronger in the end, so I wouldn't worry about it

Well, Vegeta did come up with the plan that killed Pure Buu, and played an essential role in stalling for time. He may not have been the one to actually beat him, but without Vegeta, There's a good chance that Goku wouldn't have won.

Haha, true, but I think he made up for it in the end. Well, maybe not Cell, but at least he felt bad about Gohan getting hurt. That's a bit of an improvement over what he used to be like, right?

And he pretty much kills everyone barring Freeza and Ginyu on Namek.
