If something is truly perfect, that's IT! The bottom line becomes there is no room for imagination! No space for intelligence or ability or improvement! Do you understand? I know, and it should have. I remember being very surprised--and disappointed--when a new musical piece wasn't used for when Goku went Super Saiyan for the first time in Kai. Considering how significant a moment it is in the story, I felt it was the perfect opportunity to use an insert song created especially for that moment.....alas.Gonstead wrote:It never played for him going Super Saiyan.
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

It wouldn't have fit at all. Goku becoming a Super Saiyan is supposed to be terrifying and suspenseful. Using an upbeat insert song would have missed the point as much as Faulconer's track.TheBlackPaladin wrote:I know, and it should have. My goodness, what is happening? Well, the popstar singing his guts out in the background seems to be having a good time so I won't worry.
A YouTube channel with no AMVs on it? I know, it's hard to believe.
Re: How much did the score change affect your opinion of Kai
Goku going Super Saiyan was one of the few scenes in which I think the replacement score did better. The Yamamoto track was generic, overused and underwhelming, but the Kikuchi track really caught the drama and horror of the moment, and I actually think that scene in Kikuchi Kai is better than it is in Z.
Re: How much did the score change affect your opinion of Kai
If the Yamamoto scandal had to happen no matter what, I would have preferred to have had it happen after the 8th part of Kai released. that's all i'm going to say.

Yeah, I wish so much that that was what happened. Then I could have parts 1-8 with Yamamoto (which would be what I watched 99% of the time and what I showed people) and seasons 1-4 with Kikuchi. I really wish they'd just held on for a bit longer, or that the idiot had disguised his plagiarism a bit more carefully. In my opinion as a DB fan, nothing good came from him getting caught.PhoenixEX wrote:If the Yamamoto scandal had to happen no matter what, I would have preferred to have had it happen after the 8th part of Kai released. that's all i'm going to say.

The Kikuchi score would have been fine in Kai if not for the repetition and shoddy placement of the tracks used. I always hear the same 5-6 pieces again and again and again, it really ruined the score for me.
Plagiarism or not, I never really cared about it and still prefer Yamamoto's score over any other in the series history.

Agreed. I also like the scene when Trunks cuts Freeza.Fizzer wrote:Goku going Super Saiyan was one of the few scenes in which I think the replacement score did better.
