I don't get this post... The answer to it is in the post you quoted...

1/ How could his sacrifice not have been a selfless sacrifice? Piccolo's statement has no bearing on the nature of his act. 2/ King Yemma kept Vegeta's body to send him fight Buu. The nature of his sacrifice has no bearing on that.

1. There's a world of difference between Vegeta going to his death believing he'll get to keep his body and fight Goku again in the afterlife and Vegeta going to his death knowing it's truly the end. Because of what Piccolo said he believes it to be the latter which makes his sacrifice all the more heroic and noble without the ulterior motive of fighting Goku again.

2. True but we don't know for sure what would have happened later had Vegeta not been needed. Maybe Yemma would have given him his body back anyway. After all it's not like he had time to reconstruct Vegeta's body earlier because he had his hands full dealing with all of Buu's dead victims. It's interesting to note that there's no mention of Vegeta ever being sent to Hell. Maybe his sacrifice was enough to keep him out of there.

There's a difference between discussing what could've happened and applying a what if into a discussion about what actually happened. And that's not what we commonly do in this forum.

Vegeta asked if he'd go to heaven.

Piccolo says no.

Vegeta STILL decides to sacrifice himself.

Scenerio 2

Vegeta asks

Piccolo says yes.

Suddenly, the sacrifice is A LOT easier to make.

We don't know that at all.

Part of the reason he could have kept him around could be due to the fact that his sacrifice pushed him more towards the alignment of good. (actually it's hard to argue)
