No, that's Masayuki Uchiyama.

Haven't we already gotten these in GT? Goku dies, the DBs go away, and the Namekian DBs most likely won't be used again because of the Evil Dragons.

I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.
Re: Dragon Ball Super's new art style and animation
Uchiyama Masayuki isn't credited for key animation from Dragon Ball Z Episode #1, so it's someone else's work with corrections by Uchiyama.

We need the thin/small noses back, like the ones Ajay and Kei posted/edited. Shit, who was responsible for Vegeta in episode 16? Toei needs to give that guy some more DBS episodes to work on.
Re: Dragon Ball Super's new art style and animation
Dragon Ball Super Episode #16 has Iseki Shuu'ichi as its animation supervisor. Iseki was character designer and animation supervisor of the short film ME!ME!ME! and has incredible design sensibilities. Check out his aforementioned short film! I'd love to see Iseki be a regular animation supervisor but who knows if that will happen. Toma Seizou hasn't stuck around, after all, so it's hard to say.Jaetinh wrote:We need the thin/small noses back, like the ones Ajay and Kei posted/edited. It is surprising how much slightly changing the shading and colors of some of these screenshots improves them. Take this Vegeta shot from BOG.
Not a bad shot in actuality, but with a different color palette, removing highlights, and one shading adjustment,

We get what I would consider a much better shot even with Yamamuro's character designs.

Oh what a depressing thread. Seeing how good Dragon Ball used to look compared to now is just sad. I'm glad everyone can see the same problems with the animation that i see. I was starting to think i was part of a small minority of people that thought this way about the animation.

C'mon, please at least try Toei. :/
Re: Dragon Ball Super's new art style and animation
..but why are you comparing a quick warm up with a training scene?HybridSaiyan wrote:C'mon, please at least try Toei. :/
Not to mention the DBZ one don't have many frames, it actually runs less smooth in the episode than the Super one, which is slowed down to look worse there (and is skipping a scene). While i'm pretty sure the DBZ one is sped up to look better too.

Don't just post two gifs and give a vague demand; what should Toei try with, because from what I see, there's nothing wrong with Super's animation in that gif (nothing looks off-model, either). Goku's just testing out the mobility of his new outfit.

They could put a bit more effort into his kicks. To my eyes, it just looked bland and rushed. That's my take on it. Toei has been known get lazy at times.Daisetsu wrote:Don't just post two gifs and give a vague demand; what should Toei try with, because from what I see, there's nothing wrong with Super's animation in that gif (nothing looks off-model, either). But comparing the two scenes you posted really isn't fair. You're comparing Gokus weighted training, which is actually the main point of that part of the episode, against a couple second warm up before he starts training. Obviously the two aren't meant to be compared to each other.HybridSaiyan wrote:They could put a bit more effort into his kicks. To my eyes, it just looked bland and rushed. That's my take on it. 'Lazy' implies the staff of Dragon Ball Super have all the time, resources and money in the world and are not taking their jobs seriously...which is most assuredly not the case.HybridSaiyan wrote:They could put a bit more effort into his kicks. Re: Dragon Ball Super's new art style and animation
There are times where I really like the animation but also times where its just off.... like how weird the ep5 ssj-ssj2 fight looked, while ep 11 and 13 looked good, only problem with 13 was half of it was full of stares and talks, while the other half was full of awesomeness. Ep 11 looked good from the beggining to end, even liked the pace. The non fight ep on the other hand doesnt look so good. All in all I guess its good but I prefer the old animation, their skins are literally shining on super.

I think DBS one looks better but hey that's just me.HybridSaiyan wrote:

Re: Dragon Ball Super's new art style and animation
DBS' problem lies in the fact the new style is really blegh more than anything else. If it got changed up I think issues like things being off model would be considerably lessened.
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

I don't know if you guys saw but there will be some tweaks in the Blu-ray version. Specifically the notorious episode 5.
