Did any dub try to censor General Blue's sexuality?

More than anything, the issue with that scene isn't that Blue is portrayed as a pedophile in and of itself. It's the offensive notion that someone at Toei took this camp gay character and just assumed it was totally kosher to add a scene of implied pedophilia, furthering a(n at-the-time prevalent) harmful stereotype that gay people are somehow dangerous or abnormal, rather than ... you know, exactly like straight people save for the gender they're attracted to, which is a total non-issue.

To be fair, Blue was already established as 'dangerous and abnormal', being a telekinetic murderer.

Funimation's censoring makes sense since parents probably don't want their kids watching a cartoon with pedos in them.

But you can't say it's a good change because of political correctness. It's obvious Blue is a villain, his tastes aren't being shown in a positive light. If you're going to edit Dragonball to make Blue look better, then you might as well cut the scene where Vader kills kids in Star Wars ROS or cut any scene where a man hits a woman. It's good because it's not supposed to be good.

I find it interesting that Dragon Ball Episode #7 and Episode #56 are both written by Inoue Toshiki. Episode #7 has a scene of Yamcha saying where he says "I'm no lolicon" while Episode #56 of course has the scene with Blue. This leads me to wonder if Inoue was a lolicon and/or a shoutacon or hated them?

I'm pretty sure the lolicon line was in the manga.

I think the problem isn't necessarily that pedophilia was depicted, it's more the fact that portraying one of the franchise's only confirmed examples of a gay person, as a pedophile kind of adds to the extremely offensive stereotype about gay men being child molesters.

Besides, it was basically just a filler scene that Toei threw in for the sake of a joke. It wasn't even treated in a serious manner.

Back in the day, there were propaganda pieces all over conflating homosexuality with pedophilia. It was a more ignorant time, and that bit was a reflection of the time.
