FUNimation is a small time company (however big she has become, she is still small) just trying to make money and prepare for the next wave of Home Entertainment techonology. If FUNimation went with this decision, then they've must have some sort of credible idea that what they're doing is right. Stop trying to villiafy FUNimation for trying to live, at least you get the bloody original music, an English dub, the JPN recordings, and most probably some cool extras (I hope to God for some cast interviews with the dub crew).

Call me a traitor, a fool, a ignorant or whatever, when it comes down to it, not everything is perfect and in 30 years when the series gets rereleased again, be there to buy in whatever format/shape/whatever it is in.

By the way, this comes out 2/6/2007, right?

The podcasters? If so, please realize that... uhh... we're saying what the news is. And giving our opinions on it. 'Cuz that's what a podcast is. If you don't like it, you don't have to listen to it.

The responders? Same thing goes. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion. We're letting you speak yours, so don't tell us we're not allowed to say ours. In a nutshell, that's what you've done without using those exact words. You get to speak with your wallet and words, and we get to speak with ours.
Oh God no! I love you guys, I'm just throwing this out as a sort of overall view on the situation. I'm still rather 'meh' on the who 'cropping/widescreen' situation, I was simply trying to give FUNimation a little humility. People like to think FUNimation likes to screw everyone over (cigar man, no?) but my gut feeling is that ol' FUNimation is honestly trying.

I'm not saying don't speak your opinions all I am saying is, calm down and think about their position.

EDIT: Fixed spelling error.
EDIT 2: Fixed another spelling error.

Gotcha. I wasn't sure where you were going with it, so I didn't want to make the call right off the bat. I see where you're coming from, but also take into consideration that someone expressing a negative opinion doesn't necessarily mean they think it's the end of the world and their fandom is crashing down around them. It's easy to interpret online-whining as that, but it's not inherently ALWAYS that way with someone.

For example, when I say I dislike FUNimation's dub voices, that doesn't mean any time I hear one I go into a seizure and start sending out hate mail. It means I'm saying I don't like FUNimation's dub voices. That's it. Nothing more, nothing less.

A lot of people may seem like they're going overboard with the disappointment with the sets, but I think it's warranted, and I'm glad people have the freedom to express that disappointment to the company.

Also, always remember that people whining online is almost always the small, vocal minority :).

Yeah, I know, but being in my youth I suppose I just kind of cannot always be so...Newtype-esque*, you know, to see the whole picture.

Yeah, sort of reminds this one of the Transformers fans...

By the way, in case you hadn't noticed, there a new coverart floating around on the 'net for the Vegeta box. :D

Well, this isn't new, but the one I just found isn't orange. It's yellow.

The yellow version is the older art, the orange version is the more recent one.

Orange and boring. I wonder what the individual cases look like?
What I did like about the Ultimate Uncut stuff was the awesome looking Black Red/Blue covers.
Heh.

Orange, boring, and don't forget the crosseyed Vegeta. I find that Vegeta just as bad, because it's going to give people I know (who hate DBZ) a good reason to poke fun at it

And I read somewhere (one this forum) that the set was a Digi-Pak, not individual cases. If anyone can confirm that or something, please do.

Just saw this comment. Yep, there will be one for this weekend. Editing it right now. I can't guarantee that it will be up tonight, but there's a pretty damn good chance it will be. I think what will hold me back on getting it done are all the pictures we want to take :).

I had to chuckle a little when I heard about Masako Nozawa criticizing other voice actors; she's a veteran of the medium after all, she's earned the right to harp on the proverbial youth of the industry. But she better not be talking smack about Sean Schemmel just because he's taken on the mantle of universal english speaking Son Goku. Could there be some competitive rivalry there?

Doubt it Deus... From what was said in the podcast I think she was just sounding off against voice acting in Japan and how up and coming seiyuu think about the job. Then again to anyone with half a brain voice acting is still acting. Even though many of you dislike the FUNI cast I'd like to point out that they along with most other voice actors have had theater experience.

Oh and the last podcast was magnificent... then again all my praise is sounding like a broken record. I was surprised to see a fellow forum member as a geust. Very cool! 8)

I doubt she even knows who her American counterpart is.
