Because I read it in a magasine which was explaining why it was taking so long to produce new DBZ episodes. It isn't groundless but I wasn't sure, which is why I said not to quote me on it. Theres no need to be so nasty about it, you could simply say it's wrong instead of flaming me. :(

Thanks *huggles* I was a little worried it was just me being over senstitive (I'm going through a rough patch at the moment) and I'm glad to see I'm not. I was also a little worried that this might cause trouble, which again I'm not trying to do.

It just bugs me about how everybody badmouths Ocean Dub all the time when they've produced better results than Funi a lot of the time. They're uncensored, keep more of the original songs and names in and cut less of the dialogue than "OMG FUNI RULES CUZ THEY FIRED THE CANADIAN VAS AFTER A WHILE!!". It REALLY bugs me when people say "Ocean Dub's GT Goku makes my ears bleed". DB Goku's performance: less than stellar, I agree, but GT Goku sounds almost the same as Funi's GT Goku!

Oh, thats not what I was getting at! I prefer their dub to Funi's as well!

I do dislike GT Goku's dub VA, but it's not necessarily Ocean Dub's fault. They probably just couldn't get the same VAs.

Geh?! Then what the hell did that magazine say about how good the French dub was that they said Ocean Dub was worse? :?

The magasine was simply saying that the reason Cartoon Network hadn't aired new episodes in such a while was because the company doing them was busy translating them from the French version. They didn't say anything about how good either were ^^;

What a stupid magazine!

I know, which was why I was saying I wasn't sure. The only reason I thought it might be true was because it was the Official Sky Magasine ^^; So I'd hoped they had gotten some of their facts straight!

Well, obviously.

"Hi, this is Ocean Group! We've got the rights to translate DB in Canada and Europe, so you won't make any money. Ha ha ha. You suck, we rule, fuck you all. Er, can we borrow your VA's?"

I will give them a lot of credit for using the original music on GT, and, yes, their Goku does sound a lot like Nadolny. But she has about a tenth of the talent of Nadolny or Henderson. And she seems to have been replaced for some recent DB episodes (or at least she's changed Goku's voice).

As for them being uncensored...buh? Ocean's censoring of late DBZ was actually more extreme that FUNi's. And we can't judge how much they censor GT in comparison to FUNi, since I doubt anyone here has watched versions enough to make a comparison. They do keep in some of the more "religious" dialogue, like mentioning "gods" and "hades", but that could be due to the fact that the episodes are being made for countries that get less crazy mad about that sort of thing than the US.

I am going to sit down one of these days and do a comparison between a FUNi version, Blue Water/OG version, and subtitled version of DB, since that's actually something that I could do. I don't actually think that the BW version is notably more accurate than the FUNi version, but I'm not 100% certain.

(I'd bet money that that "I do plenty of push-ups" line as Chibi Goku rises with the Genki Dama at the end of GT isn't in the original though.)

I meant that the last few eps of DBZ have been less edited than they usually were

What do you mean by "last few episodes"? I never really noticed much difference for the entire AB/OG run, but I wasn't paying a huge amount of attention.

In one of the filler eps, (I think it's 'He's Always Late') Goku has a flashback to when he's a child and is being raised by Gohan, and they didn't edit on lil digi-pants - they actually left him totally nekkid! Even when you could see *cough* stuff  I was kinda impressed that they left that in.. It was probably a mistake though, lol!

Really? That's pretty surprising. I guess we'll have to try and catch a repeat to see if it was a mistake.

I know, that's what I thought! My family thought I was very weird, watching a nekkid lil boy and going 'Ohmigod!' O_O *stare*

Hehe. I could see that happening to me if I'd caught something like that on CN.

And really without precedent. CN and other cartoon channels don't really have a problem with showing male arses, but the front bits? Completely out of bounds. Until now, apparently.

Are we talking about the version aired in England or something? Because I remember that "He's always late" was cut about two minutes short when it aired on CN in the US because, I guess, they were suddenly too lazy to cover Gokuu's ass with a towel (it's so weird, somehow they're allowed to show children's naked butts, but adult asses are a no-no....makes no friggin' sense). If they went that far to avoid showing asses, I'm pretty sure they remembered to cover Gokuu's naughty bits in a flashback.

It's no more bizarre than what's allowed with live action. Naked babies are on TV quite often, but give it a couple of year and suddenly its a no-no. Same goes for photo's and stuff too, that one ladies photo's (can't remember her name) come to mind.

Yup. Well, the version that aired in Britain shown on Toonami, but close enough.

It makes perfect sense, for the same reason that you can have naked babies on TV but not naked adults (so much).

A child's arse is funny. An adult's arse is sexual. Sexual stuff is not allowed.
