5. Post Buu Era Gohan
Talk about a dork. Gohan handed over any hope of being any good once he 1.) Married Videl and 2.) Had Pan.

4. Videl
She's just a flat out stupid character that is inserted to show that "humans can still do stuff!". Since Krillin, Yamcha, and Tien were 80% absent then, they needed a new full blooded human.

3. Uub (Pre Majin Buu fusion)
Again, too modest, and too much like Goku. We've already had Goku, we don't need a new poor village boy version of him. After he fuses with Buu, though, he becomes better.

2. Present-Timeline Trunks
Talk about a huge brat. Not just being one of those, his hair is hideous, even while Super Saiyan. He attempts to be like his father, but he just ends up a whiny punk in the process. Even more so, when he progresses in to GT, he just becomes a dork like Gohan. Had Gotenks appeared in GT, he probably would have been more watered down.

1. Pan
I... hate... Pan... I hate the stupid Saiyan girl in every aspect. She tries to be all righteous, but, like Uub, fails horribly and turns out to be a stupid "filler" (I say this term lightly, as there was obviously no GT manga) character with no real purpose other than to put a girl on Goku's team.

I feel sorry for Goku, who had his dork son marry a stupid girl and they have a stupid daughter. Then, Goku had to train with this dumb wannabe and then had to go into space with the now dorkified Trunks and his idiotic granddaughter.

Nah, you're not the only one. She was the only character in all of GT that actually developed in some way. Despite falling into the typical "I'm gonna run into danger because I'm weak but head-strong, just so Goku can save me" routine over and over again, she managed to deal out an ass-kicking every once in awhile.

She was actually pretty funny when she was fighting against the Evil Dragons. At least the first couple of them.

I also kinda laughed when she dropped the keys down her shirt when Trunks wanted them. Then I thought "Wait, her shirt doesn't even go down that far... shouldn't they fall out the bottom?"

I felt the same way. In the Cell saga, I was annoyed and resented him being there in the way. I actually cheered when Cell reverse knife-handed him into the mountain face. But I liked him in the Buu saga, he grew on me for the same reasons Liam mentioned.

I have always liked Videl and Pan. Maybe you've watched just the dubbed ones, because I've heard they're pretty obnoxious in that version. Videl isn't annoying at all in Japanese and Pan's a bit of a bratty crybaby but , she grows.

Z Videl was awesome IMO. But in GT she, like so many others, sucked. And Pan was all that saved GT for me. At least, what I've seen of it, which aint much. As for my own list? I don't have one.

Characters piss me off from time to time, but I never always hate them. Like, Chichi. She's a bitch, but I don't always hate her.

I haven't seen very much of GT, but I don't like Pan. That's about it. She might change for the better later, I don't know or care, meaning you shouldn't bother telling me, but she's just a brat. She'd have a different personality if Akira Toriyama was in charge of everything. I'm positive.

I dislike Pan. Like everyone in GT, her character just doesn't matter, because everything resolves around Goku and his infinite greatness. She seems just kind of like a typical anime character, which is annoying after watching Gohan, Vegeta, and Piccolo in Z. Also, her design just doesn't look "DRAGONBALL-ISH" to me. Speaking of characters-turned-prostitutes, Bra is just plain scary in GT...

But yes, I dislike all of GT, but I think it's justified. Dragonball and Dragonball Z gave me high expectations, since they're so endearing and the best television shows I've seen (and best manga I've read, and best anime-based games I've played). So not only did GT suck on its own merit, but it took AWESOME characters and totally f***ed them up, and the villians were plain LAUGHABLE compared the awesomeness of Vegeta, Freeza, Fat Buu, and Cell. But I'll admit "Dan Dan" was a nice theme... FOR THE UNFORTUNATE HELL THAT FOLLOWED!

It's like why everyone hates the new Star Wars films so much. If there were no previous Star Wars films, these new ones would just be viewed as mediocre flicks, maybe even become popular (not with me, though... the acting is just TOOOOOO bad). But since we have the classics, these movies are considered by most to be dispisable at the very least.
Same as why I hate the new Simpsons episodes, dub Freeza, and so many of our contemporary film remakes (don't get me started on that "Living Dead" remake... Why redo only the second film in a trilogy? That would be like if Jackson did "The Two Towers" as a stand-alone film).

Anywho, the (original) point of this thread was to inquire as to who do you not like, personally. Not considering... well... who the story kind of indicates you SHOULD hate, like Freeza and Cell. Personally, I really like them both. Freeza was a great villian because of his sadistic cruelty. Think about the scene in which he's beating Vegeta to death. He makes Vegeta suffer for a long time, but he makes little comments like he kind of regrets killing him, as though Vegeta was one of his close buddies. All the while, he's still enjoying the torture he's inflicting, even consuming his spattered blood.

That's f***ed-up stuff, right there. Only Frank Booth could comprehend that kind of psychology.

I liked Videl in Z. But in GT, like everyone else, she was just kind of "there." And like all the women in GT, they drew her head much larger than it should be. Anyone else notice that? Whenever anyone was in a house on Earth, his or her head grew in size (though Pan and Vegeta seem not to undergo this most curious transformation).

Well.. I don't have 5, but I expect I'll think of more as I think about it

1. My most hated character has to be GT Chibi Goku. For being a god-moder, and just so damn orange. It's just so annoying when SSJ2 Vegeta, SSJ2 Gohan, SSJ Goten, SSJ Trunks and Uub were all losing to Super-17 and then Chibi NON-SSJ Goku comes in and looks like he's doing a competent job >_<

2. ChiChi - her constant screeching annoys me. I do have respect for her though, as she takes care of Gohan and Goten all by herself most of the time and makes sure they're brought up right.

3. Pan. She looked like she was going to be such a promising character at the end of DBZ, but she was such a let down in DBZ :( And also for all the Vegeta x Pan fiction. Blech.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But still, calling DBZ the best television show ever is just...crazy. And Dragon Ball video games don't exactly have the best reputation (although the number of non DBZ anime based video games I've played is...zero).

Also, "fuck".

Yeah, DBZ isn't really close to the best animanga I've ever seen/read. It's more or less just a hobby for me. I'm more enthralled in other series, like .hack, Sailor Moon, Final Fantasy (okay, that's just a game series, but still), etc.

And Pan isn't Saiyan. She's 1/4th Saiyan. Or 1/3. I forget which.

How would you get a third? A half and a quarter? Anyway, she's 1/4.

The interesting thing with that I noticed was even though her Frieza voice was quite different than the Japanese actor's, the mannerisms pretty much stayed the same. Anyone else notice this?

No, I'd have to disagree with that...although they kept Freeza's character a sadistic killer in both versions, I found his japanese personality was usually a lot more soft spoken than his english counter part.

Less was definatly more; in english they had him spouting all sorts of threats and nonsence almost non-stop, while the japanese Freeza could make his threats without even saying a word. My favourite example is the Bardock movie; in 2 certain scenes where you only see Freeza from behind, he cranks up the tension by just not saying anything (Like when Dodoria botched up his mission, or Zarbon foolishly questioning his order to open the top hatch).

True. But that's typical FUNi (hell, typical any-dub-company) overwriting to cover silences. I do kinda get what Koden and SS are saying...the voice was amazingly inappropriate, but Young did have acting talent. Freeza did sound far better once they'd applied the weird effects to her voice to make her sound more masculine for Freeza's other forms.

On Firestar, she's now Warbird of the Avengers. Her alias is an FBI agent and what not. She also for some strange reason now has blonde hair instead of red. Unless I'm thinking of someone else. Anyone know their Marvel history well?

Ohhh yeaah!!! I was thinking of that ditz who shoots green energy on Teen Titans (who also has red hair).

Personally, I think most of what is and ever has been on TV sucks, so I don't watch it much. I'm more into film. But DBZ is the best of what I've seen, in my opinion. I'll acknowledge it's not the best, I suppose, but it's extremely popular and well-loved. And I'll go ahead and say it: I think most anime is kind of crappy, too. It's just that way with every entertainment medium, though. For every million pieces of worthless, trite rubbish, there's one good thing. But to say Dragonball is the bestest, mostest influentialest TV show of all time is like saying Memento is the most important film of all time, instead of, say, "Citizen Kane," "Breathless," or "Plan Nine from Outer Space." It's also like saying Tarantino is a the most influential director of all time, while he really... eh... nevermind.

Anywho, back on topic. Yeah... Pan. She's an energetic go-getter.
I don't recall saying she was Saiyan. She just lacked the kind of interesting personality that my favorite DBZ characters had.

And Freeza's voice sounded worse in my opinion with the effects FUNi added to make it more masculine. Oh, I recall the horrible, horrible grunting when he/she/it fought Piccolo... Well, maybe it wasn't worse, it was just a different kind of suck.

I was thinking more along the lines of "Least favorite (main) characters (from whole series/some kind of movie/story arc)" but yeah, that fat lady was annoying. I guess you could throw in those two henchmen who tried to kidnap Bulma on Namek. So pointless.

As for the "grunting" that usually pops up in the dub and not the Japanese while guys are fighting, Kiais are very important in the martial arts.
