I think they want to delay it for long as possible...Well, maybe not. Anyway, apparently they'll be releasing all three DB movies at the same time, so there's some good news.

Kanzenshuu: Is that place still around?

Because Vegeta is second to Goku and they weren't colored with the blood of Namekians by hand. The Time Traveller wrote:Why the hell is everyone always picking these awesome covers to pieces? Everything looks good...DBHighDefinition wrote:That is...decent. But SSJ3 Goku looks kinda strange, and Videl's face protector thing HUGE.

Movie 13 and the 10th anniversary movie both drop on February 13th, so I'm assuming Herms is referring to DB movies 1-3 proper. The Time Traveller wrote:They still haven't released Path to Power, so they'll probably do it in twos.Herms wrote:I think they want to delay it was long as possible...Well, maybe not. Aaaah, I know he meant the first 3 DB movies, and I didn't see that the 10th anniversary movie was coming out with Z movie 13.VegettoEX wrote:Movie 13 and the 10th anniversary movie both drop on February 13th, so I'm assuming Herms is referring to DB movies 1-3 proper. The Time Traveller wrote:They still haven't released Path to Power, so they'll probably do it in twos.Herms wrote:I think they want to delay it was long as possible...Well, maybe not. I'll snoop for a cover pic now...
Found it!

It looks awesome, they fit all the Good guys in, and Goku's adorable here.

Saw the update, I'm kinda pissed with the 14 too.
Also, Amazon lists the 3 DB movies as volumes 15, 16 and 17, aaaand... shit...

If it gets a proper non-postcard ordeal release in Japan and just happens to have the subs from the website version include, who cares if Funimation release it?Pitzu wrote:A bit off topic, but does anyone know when 'Son Goku and his friends return' will be released by Funi?

We have no idea what FUNimation's plans are for a re-release of DragonBall. The movies would go along with that. Presumably/Hopefully, they'll be doing their best to get those release rights for eps 1-13 and the first movie back before they do anything.LeprikanGT wrote:EDIT: So wait...so is the US not getting the 10th Anniversary special in the steel cases? Movies 12 and 13 and coming in together so do you think they are putting it out alone or something?

Oh man, that's some awesome art. This is probley the only movie where the cover art will match the style (of drawings) in the movie. Also, Iam very eager to see how the oldest movies (DB movies 1,2 and 3) will look with the new art style for the cover art.
There is no way I'am buying 1 - 14 though. lol... I should say 3 - 14. http://db.schuby.org/daizex/viewtopic.p ... &highlight
Yea, I agree. I wouldn't mind it if it was just disc 14 within a box but, being these are single disc's I don't like it. I'am going to hate it more when I buy movie 1 and it has a big 15 on the cover. I'am going to feel like I need to buy 1 - 14 just to justify having that 15 on the cover... Just the odd way I think.I really wish it didn't say "14" on it, since it's not DBZ movie 14, or anything...

Just the general placement of the characters for Movie 13 looks weird to me. That and all the white space
.
The Tenth Anniversary Special cover looks pretty spankin', though. Assistant Black in his Mech looming in the background woulda been a nice touch, but it's fine the way it is.
... and yeah, it is weird seeing #14 on the cover. I know the singles originally came from the movie set packing ALL the movies from DB and DBZ, but the numbering is still weird to look at when you know what the "correct" number should be.

The layouts for movies 12 and 13 are horrendous. I'm not talking about drawing style here. None of those covers have any focus or path of action for the eye to follow. 13 seems especially cluttered especially with all of the overlapping of characters and poorly used white space.
I have to say that I am very disappointed. One of the best parts of movie posters is how they draw the eye. Movie 12 would be good if they had figured out proper placement. The fact that Janemba is doing his puzzle teleport is almost lost because of the cluttteredness.
Movie 11 would be better if Trunks' leg wasn't cut off on the side, but at least there is a good balance between him, Goten and Broly.
Movie 14, however, looks great. There are a few things, but overall it has the right idea. Its obvious that 14 was created as a poster in mind, while the others are probably a collage of new stock art that Toei has been using for calendars and promotions.
Although despite a few deformities, the characters look damn pretty!

Hopefully this doesn't mean it'll cost more/be on one disc... I wanna use ectc's subs for movie 1!Herms wrote:I think they want to delay it was long as possible...Well, maybe not. Anyway, apparently they'll be releasing all three DB movies at the same time, so there's some good news.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
I love the new covers, even though Goku and Trunks look a little awkward in the movie 13 cover.
And since this is the movies 11 and 12 thread, I'll mention that Jump updated it's DragonBall DVD Blogwith more movie design sketches. I'm really digging the mech-related ones and the failed Gogeta attemp:
