I only saw the first episode on Sci-Fi awhile back. I liked it, but not enough to find out when it normally comes on. People probably like it because it's new, fresh, not 291 episodes, and it isn't Dragonball, One Piece, or Naruto but fills the void in their lives for something that has similarities to it.
I've seen the whole thing and I have to say, it's pretty good. It doesn't take itself too seriously, but it has quite an epic feeling story and isn't afraid to do things that might piss the fans off. It's especially good if you're already a mecha fan.

How is TTGL like Dragonball? Honestly :| That's just pushing it. Have you never seen a Super Robots show before? Gao Gai Gar? Gunbuster? Getter Robo?

Don't be so literal. A couple of the characters have similar backgrounds and experiences, and personalities. And the fighting is just insane in both series.

You could say what TTGL lacks in episode length compared to DB, it makes up for in unbelieveable action.

As long as we're on snooty anime that has a similar feeling to Dragonball, has anyone here ever seen Photon? Its like "Dragonball Meets Tenchi Muyo" or something.

Listen to Kamina's speecheds in eps 1-3. Sounds a bit like Saiyaman.

I only watched a bit of TTGL's dub (I've seen it all subbed), but Kamina is voiced by Gohan's Funi VA in the dub.
On hiatus.

Saiyaman is a parody of Super Sentai shows, so any similiar character is probably also drawing off of Super Sentai, not DragonBall.

Kamina and Goku are actually quite similar, if you think about it.

-Both commanded the respect and love of their teammates and were viewed as the strongest.
-Both grew up in isolation, ignorant of the outside world, though Kamina was actually curious, while Goku was content in the mountains.

WARNING: SPOILERS

-Both die tragic deaths(Well, in Gok's case, multiple deaths, but you could say his death in the Trunks special was the most significant as bringing him back to life was not an option)

The only real differences were that Kamina was abrasive and kind of rude about his experiences on the surface, while Goku was really mild-mannered and seemed "Oh, okay!"

Saiyaman is more of a Kamen Rider parody. He looks like Viewtiful Joe who's also a Kamen Rider parody. Interesting they actually used time manipulation in a KR series after VJ was released.

Definitely.
Ginew and his pals are a parody of Sentai.

That looks like such a Techi ripoff... I spotted Tenchi, Ryoko and Ryo-Oki!
