Though like people keep saying throughout this thread, encoding has improved greatly since 2003, so who knows.

I ALREADY KNOW THE DUB WILL BE THERE.
I'm just asking them to give us options between the two bgm options.

I really don't think Funi would give up an opportunity to push any version of their show be it bad synth music filled or no.jjgp1112 wrote:...Kendamu wrote:Well, if the Japanese version is going to be default, then there must be something other than the default on there. Two BGM scores I think you mean. By saying "two dubs" it makes me think that you mean between FUNi and Ocean. You all only really care about the FUNi dub, but you want it with both Japanese and Faulconer BGMs. Am I correct?jjgp1112 wrote:I'm just asking them to give us options between the two dubs.

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

I have to say, I'm shocked, but not totally shocked by this announcement. I had a sneaky feeling that FUNimation would release the series again, but not this soon after the orange bricks finished their run. However, I am quite surprised that they obtained the same Dragon Box product that had been released in Japan. I didn't think it would actually happen. This is great news for the fans of the series that have wanted a definitive collection of DBZ, and great news for those who could not import the Dragon Box from Japan.
To me, I think it is amazing how this company has marketed, and released DBZ in so many ways. It started with the first 53 episodes, which were edited, and shown over and over again on television. Then, they finally gave us Japanese audio starting with the two Ginyu discs, and continuing with the rest of the series. THEN, their so-called "Ultimate Uncut Edition," which was unceremoniously stopped after 9 discs. It didn't end here. Next came the Widescreen disaster. To FUNi's credit, they presented the entire series in one format, although it had many, many problems. And now, the Dragon Box? If they are true to their word, and "didn't change a damn thing," it should make each and every one of us happy. It just sucks that it took them 11 years to get it right (even though the Dragon Box footage has only been around since '03).

Have fun worrying about that. Having anything dub-related is little more than a bonus for me on these sets. If all they did was repackage the original DBox discs and put subtitles on, I'd be enthralled.
Nevertheless, the dub will be on there in one way or another. Even if it's "only" the one with the JPN BGM, that'll be more than good enough. It's about time FUNimation realizes their dub score stinks anyway. Let the Season Sets be bogged down with that track.

Why are you guys acting like Funi should pretty much disregard anything involving the dub? This isn't only about satisfying subbies.

They do have the right. They shouldn't, but they do have the right. It's their product, and if they don't want to maximize profit, that's on them.jjgp1112 wrote:Why are you guys acting like Funi has some right to completely disregard anything involving the dub?

Except some of us actually like it. I know, weird, right? The minority of a minority, that is those who will buy this release.SSj Kaboom wrote:Nevertheless, the dub will be on there in one way or another. Do you really have to talk down to me like that? There are more "hardcore fans" than just you guys. Dub fans also have opinions too, you know.Kendamu wrote:We're not. No. I don't have to, but I'm just in one of those moods where I just can't sit around and watch people complain and, as I said before, rain on our parade. I've been waiting at least a decade for something like this while the rest of my friends have been satisfied many times over already. I finally get something for me and I'm not really in the mood to put up with everyone I've had to watch be happy all this time suddenly act like they're getting ripped off.jjgp1112 wrote:Do you really have to talk down to me like that?
