First I've heard of it. Maybe people are getting the wrong idea out of the "roughly 100 episodes" rumor (the Saiyan/Freeza arcs added up to a little over 100 episodes).ShinRogafuken wrote:Is there a false rumor going around that DBKai is going to end at the Freeza Saga?

I've heard the same thing... But I've also heard that Kai is supposedly going to be around 100 episodes long.ShinRogafuken wrote:Is there a false rumor going around that DBKai is going to end at the Freeza Saga?

Isn't the Freeza saga about that length already? If you take out all of the filler, then surely...
At any rate, I don't think anything concrete has been stated yet, so, we'll just have to wait and see.
I could see them ending at Cell, though. I can't see them getting all three sagas into 100 episodes, no matter how quickly they fly through it. It would be a pacing nightmare.

Not to mention completely cutting out Garlic Junior and the Anoyoichi Budokai. Plus entire filler episodes, like "Goku and Piccolo Learn to Drive" and "Gohan Meets a Robot".Rod wrote:They said approximately it could be more.
Considering the first Kai episode was about two episodes worth of Z plus recap, cutting 291 to 100+ seems plausible

... and let's not forget the Pseudo-Namek arc!
Honestly, between cutting down the Freeza fight and just removing all of the angry stares/grunting before fights, I think 100 episodes sounds about right. We'll have a better idea of the plausability of this scenario as soon as we see what they do to the actual fights.

I think most of these rumors spun out of the current promotional materials, as well as OP and ED centering around characters who appear in the Saiyan/Freeza arcs. But I'm guessing that's just because those are the current threats. No point in showing off Cell this early in the game, especially when it's being marketed at kids who have probably never seen the show.Zenkai Power wrote:I don't think there is any evidence of this at all. Did anyone get any HQ captures of the commercials/promos that aired with episode 1? I want to catalogue them for memory's sake.
True, also the power-ups which last a very long time, in the manga last only a few panelsSuper Ghost Kamikaze wrote:Not to mention completely cutting out Garlic Junior and the Anoyoichi Budokai. Fairly certain that there is no promotional work beyond Freeza Saga because of two reasons.
1). They haven't prepared that footage yet or gotten in contact with people like Norio Wakamoto to see if they can reprise their roles. The Cell Saga probably wouldn't start until 30 or so episodes in and that is probably half a year away.
2). Due to the poor performance of Dragonball GT. It's natural that Toei has a bit of hesitation on airing a new Dragonball program(especially one that is essentially just a rerun of DBZ) and is waiting to see how the Freeza/Saiyan arc performs before pushing forward.

Or even a combination of the two, they haven't made it because they don't know if it's worth the trouble yetUndercooked Sausage wrote:Fairly certain that there is no promotional work beyond Freeza Saga because of two reasons.

Or is that what you meant?
As always, I'm late to the party. I just finished watch the first episode of Dragonball Kai and I don't know what to say that hasn't already been said. I like the opening and the ending credits and I was pleased that some of the filler scenes where cut out. But I don't see what was the big whoop over it. Really it sort feels like a game: "Which part will edit out next? What other weewee's will they censor?"
I also noticed Lunch in the ending credits. A nice friendly reminder that she wasn't even seen after Dragonball. "Hey remember Lunch! We do! To bad she's not in this. That sucks, right?"
Still, I haven't watched the first season of DBZ in almost 7 years. So I can't but feel this over whelming feeling of nostalgia. It's just like popping in the bootleg dub all over again, with the few fillers scenes automatically skipped for me.

I've noticed people mention this several times now, but she actually was in the ending to DBZ, right up to episode 199.Scarz wrote:I also noticed Lunch in the ending credits. A nice friendly reminder that she wasn't even seen after Dragonball.
She also had numerous scenes in DBZ, but I'm sure you were just being sarcastic.
