I really really REALLY hope he's mistaken and that Toei manages to find a deal by themselves without Manga UK.

Also, the fact that there is no edited version to air is also a strike against it for UK Broadcasters. Because Nicktoons was neatly available for airing. Something that cant be said for Super.

I thought Kara Edwards changed her Goten voice because the previous version was too rough on her throat. I like both versions.
On hiatus.

I was setting up my recording for this and XFinity, my cable provider has little images for the shows. Like show posters. I don't know what to call them. Dragon Ball Super sure has a weird one. Probably something the cable company uses and not the actual English dub logo.

To be honest, Super isn't a patch on some of the stuff I grew up watching in the 80's.
Thundercats was quite dark, Dungeons and Dragons too. that isn't the problem anyhow, the "too violent" label is just ignorance really.

The last I heard from Toei EU was November, and they said the UK status was "confidential information".
It doesn't look good, we are a total laughing stock throughout Europe.

If we were to get it, then chances are the earliest it would air would be Summertime, so the Adult Swim episodes get far enough ahead so they can air 2-3 a week on a kids network (which again, isn't at all likely).
Kix aired Kai, so am not sure what has happened there, as that did very well for them.

Our Adult Swim here starts too late for Super to air on, and Turner doesn't want it on any of their children's networks, so that's them out of the picture.
NickToons air TMNT at 5pm Sundays, not sure if they'd be interested in a Sunday evening action block - pairing the two up.

Just a quick question: DBZ Kai airs in full screen on Toonami? I just checked out the commercial for the marathon.

DBZ Kai aired in 4:3 (pillarboxed). TFC will most likely be 16:9, as it was everywhere else it aired, ever.

I saw that too! I was gonna mention that. Also on Comcast, it says that on January 7 at Midnight, there will be One Punch Man and not DBZKTFC

It might be just because there's a blank space in the schedule, so they just filled in what used to be there. Probably when we get closer to the air date, when we see the actual listing for the Final Chapters.

Can't wait to hear Sean Schemmel as Goku in the next episode previews saying "Next Time on Dragon Ball Super".
Do you have any info about international non-English broadcasts about the Dragon Ball anime or manga translations/editions? Please message me. Researching for a future book with Dragon Ball scholar Derek Padula

They seem to be pretty good translations of the japonese titles.

So something that just occurred to me watching the Toonami trailer again; a lot of flashbacks in Super use Z (technically Kai) footage and audio. This had me wondering; how do you think Funimation will handle these?

Will they use Z Dub audio, Kai dub audio (since we know that dub's been done for like a year now), or will they rerecord them altogether?

NEPs on Toonami tend to get cut for time reasons, so you might have to wait for the DVD/BD release for that.

Will Funimation try to create some new scenes?

There's no way they'd use Z dub audio. More likely they'll use audio from the Kai dub.

I don't think so. No dubbing company has ever done this, and there's no way one like Funi would or could.

Why the hell would they add new scenes? FUNi doesn't animate the show!

Thought as much. Ah well something to look forward to on the BDs I guess.

Actually, 4Kids Entertainment actually did create some new scenes for the English dub of the fourth Pokémon film. (The animation for the fourth English opening theme of the Pokémon TV series was almost entirely animated specifically for 4Kids too.)

Not to say that it'd happen in this case unless HFIL freezes over, but it's not true that no dubbing company has ever had new scenes animated for the English release of an anime.

Anyway, I imagine flashbacks will either use Kai audio or be redubbed entirely, there's no reason they'd bring back old Z audio at this point.

4Kids also commissioned two new 13 episode seasons of Kinnikuman Nisei/Ultimate Muscle to fix the fact that the anime originally just kind of abruptly ended because it got cancelled. Something I'll always respect them for, even if most of their other dubbing practices were awful from a purist standpoint.
