I know that they are not at 100% quality, but they weren't saved as JPEGs and they look pretty much the way they played on my computer. What I was really looking for was the cropping and colors. Honestly, these things look good. If they have any downfall it's the cropping :/ Also, these are taken from the first episode of Dragon Ball Z, which is the worst-looking by far in terms of dirt on the film.

Those comparisons are useless. They aren't taken properly (most are the wrong resolution or aspect ratio as well), and the "Kai Blu-ray" shot looks like the colors were tampered with.
This goes for everyone: you shouldn't waste your time making comparisons with images you found, because there's a good chance they aren't taken properly.

I still think they're oddly comparable detailwise.
Yeah, Pioneer's encoding for their Dragon Ball Z releases was atrocious. Even though FUNimation's was still pretty crap, they at least fixed some of the problems Pioneer had, and if you compare the Pioneer release of Movie 1 with the "First Strike" FUNimation release, you'll see that Pioneer introduced lots of additional artifacts such as heavy rainbowing around edges.
This shot is really sad, and telling at the same time:
