MY HOLY GRAIL (110% Serious. Please sell me one)Mayuri Kurotsuchi wrote:"In this world, nothing perfect exists. It may be a cliche after all but it's the way things are. That's precisely why ordinary men pursue the concept of perfection, it's infatuation. But ultimately I have to ask myself "What is the true meaning of being perfect?" and the answer I came up with was nothing. Not one thing. The truth of the matter is I despise perfection! If something is truly perfect, that's IT! The bottom line becomes there is no room for imagination! No space for intelligence or ability or improvement! Do you understand? To men of science like us, perfection is a dead end, a condition of hopelessness. Always strive to be better than anything that came before you but not perfect! Scientist's agonize over the attempt to achieve perfection! That's the kind of creatures we are! We take joy in trying to exceed our grasp, in trying to reach for something that in the end, we have to admit may in fact be unreachable!"

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
I don't find Dragon Ball Evolution very, very bad, I would give it 3.5/10. I don't mind the changes (e.x. High School Goku), I actually prefer the changes, because I want to see something new based on Dragon Ball, not thye same old thing I've read, watched & played so many times already.
I also don't find Dragon Ball GT bad. In fact, I like it. I understand it's bad written, and the plot is bad, but it had very good (bad executed) ideas, and awesome new forms & villains (especially Super Yi Xing Long).
I also don't find the movies very bad, and I love Dragon Ball Kai.
Finally, I can't stand the FUNi dub, whatever version it is, and I hate the dub names on my video games.
And oh, I call Bulma as Bluma.

But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

I didn't think anyone really thought he was bad. Besides, it's not as if Broli has that much in the way of character anyway, so I doubt even FUNimation could somehow get him wrong.Gonstead wrote:Vic Mignogna is great as Broly.

I don't know if this counts but Goten is one of my favorite characters. I don't know why, honestly. Maybe it's the fact that he's so innocent.
Re: Unpopular DB opinions
The fact that there's more than one member named after their love for Goten proves that's far from unpopular.smantooth6 wrote:I don't know if this counts but Goten is one of my favorite characters. I don't know why, honestly. Maybe it's the fact that he's so innocent.

He's also topped more than one "most popular character" poll, both in the US and in Japan, although I think most of them were from before he grew up.

Oops. I guess I haven't kept up with the polls. Sorry.
Re: Unpopular DB opinions
Apart from the flaw that the first movie can't possibly fit into the time line, I actually like the Garlic Junior arc. If they hadn't made it a sequel to a non-canon movie but had kept most other things in tact, it would be a pretty good fantasy story. It makes a change from have fight > win fight > everything's better.
Re: Unpopular DB opinions
He did? The last poll from Japan I remember was with Krillin being nr.1. Don't know much about the US polls though....He's also topped more than one "most popular character" poll, both in the US and in Japan, although I think most of them were from before he grew up.

Oops, sorry, thought you said "Gohan", not "Goten".
Re: Unpopular DB opinions
I think Colleen Clinkenbeard's Gohan is somewhat overrated. Yeah, it's a step up from the old dub's Gohan, but it wasn't the best thing since sliced bread.

I didn't think people were saying that. I think people were just happy to have someone that actually sounded like a natural kid for once.Hades wrote:I think Colleen Clinkenbeard's Gohan is somewhat overrated. Re: Unpopular DB opinions
For me, the voice was too high pitched to the extent that I couldn't take her Gohan seriously (it's one thing for a voice to be natural, but another to be credible). I'd have personally gone for MasakoX as Gohan or failing that, Brina Palencia.Piccolo Daimao wrote:I didn't think people were saying that. Really? I don't think it was that high-pitched, and besides, a lot of kids' voices sound high-pitched anyway. Brina Palencia would be a good Gohan, but I'm perfectly happy with Clinkenbeard's. Perhaps you need to give it time to warm to, if you haven't already.Hades wrote:For me, the voice was too high pitched to the extent that I couldn't take her Gohan seriously (it's one thing for a voice to be natural, but another to be credible). Re: Unpopular DB opinions
I realized I forgot one.
Unpopular Opinion #7: Ultra Super Saiyan & Ultimate Super Saiyan are not true transformations.
I hear a lot that USSJ and USSJ2 are unique Super Saiyan forms. I don't consider them that. To me, they're nothing more than pumping ki into your muscles, similar to how Master Roshi does so when he creates a Full-Power-Kamehameha or what Frieza does when he reaches 100%.

If they hadn't changed the hairstyle (Grade 2 even changed Vegeta's unchanged hairstyle) and if they weren't treated as different forms in Daizenshuu, I wouldn't consider them as transformations either.Travis Touchdown wrote:Unpopular Opinion #7: Ultra Super Saiyan & Ultimate Super Saiyan are not true transformations.

And here is another unpopular opinion (or theory?) I have. I believe that once someone achieves Super Saiyan Full Power, he can access the power of Super Saiyan Grade 2 & 3 without growing the huge muscles. Why? Because since normal Super Saiyan is technically Grade 1, and the others are Grade 2 & 3, the Grade 2 & 3 are sub-transformations of the Super Saiyan form. So, Super Saiyan Full Power is an upgrade form that replaces the 3 Grades.
So, Super Saiyan Full Power is a combination of the normal form, the Super Saiyan form, the Super Saiyan Grade 2 form & the Super Saiyan Grade 3 form.

I agree 110% on this one. I don't know what idiot (if it was the Daizenshuu I still totally stand by this idiotic thing) started that naming scheme because it really just over complicates matters by far.Travis Touchdown wrote:I realized I forgot one.

Yeah, I agree. Also, I dislike the terms "USSJ" and "USSJ2", because "USSJ2" misleads people into thinking it's a stronger version of Super Saiyan 2.Travis Touchdown wrote:Unpopular Opinion #7: Ultra Super Saiyan & Ultimate Super Saiyan are not true transformations.

I actually really like Pan as a character. It seems like she gets a lot of hate in the DBZ community, and I never really understood that.
Re: Unpopular DB opinions
^This in a nutshell for me. It is actually the reason I don't have the rest of Kai(only parts 1-5 for a bargain). I don't mind it so much when she is talking but the yelling and screaming is unbearable. I'm probably going to end up re-syncing up the old FUNI's voice over on blu-rays. I thought Freeza's was odd at first bit it was just different and I grew a liking to it. Gohan's for me did not.Hades wrote:For me, the voice was too high pitched to the extent that I couldn't take her Gohan seriously (it's one thing for a voice to be natural, but another to be credible).
