Something that hadn't occurred to me before: the plot summary says that when they hear he defeated Freeza, Bilus and Whis track down Goku. In the preview, we see Goku politely ask to fight Bilus; Bilus and Whis seems totally taken aback by this, and Kaio berates Goku for "picking a fight" with a god.

In other words, Bilus and Whis tracks down Goku, but apparently they had no intention of fighting him. That seems to be all Goku's idea. So, what did they want with him?

Hmm...that's a good question. The only guess I could begin to make was based on a theory that someone had earlier, that maybe Goku defeating Freeza was actually a bad thing in some ways, as he messes up the balance between destruction and creation maybe. But, even thinking along that route, you'd think they would have come to reprimand him for it...so...

Maybe Birusu and Uisu are just surprised about how some lowly mortal just casually challenges a God. Kaio probably wasn't just aware of Birusu's intentions yet.

It's possible, though that makes me wonder why it took him so long to wake up...Freeza would have been dead for over ten years by this point.

Who's to say that he would wake up as soon as Freeza was defeated? He figured Freeza had it covered and slept in.

Fair enough, touche. That could work actually, maybe he only wakes up every so many several years to check up on things, and it was only this time that he finally woke up and discovered things all wrong.

SSJ Gohan with Goku's gi looks so awkward and generic

I agree. It was fine when he had his Ultimate power-up, but now that's gone so he's just Goku with short hair. Amazing.


I kind of wish they had given Gohan, Goten and Trunks new outfits. Especially since this is a few years after Buu.

Well Goten's got that tuxedo on the character summaries scan, and Gohan's got that new scholar outfit with the yellow glasses. Maybe it's just the casualwear that's getting an update. Though I would like to see some movie-only battle outfits too. (I wouldn't think it'd be too much to ask. Either that or I'm just spoiled from all of One Piece's special movie-only outfits. They change 3 times in OPZ.)

We never got translations of all the character profiles (we got parts from Kuririn's, Pilaf Gang's, and parts of Birusu's and Uisu's); I've been following this thread pretty closely and haven't seen anything like that. All we've been told is that it's just stuff we already know.
I'd still like to know exactly what they say though. I recall the 08' special's character profiles were written in an entertaining way; curious to see if these are too.

If I was better/faster at translating than I am I'd give it a shot, but as my skills are now I really can't do the translations justice compared to those on the board who are fluent in Japanese.

Same. All he ever wears is someone else's gi. By this point in the story he is no longer the pupil, which was pretty established after the Cell Games. He should wear his own independent gi.

There's really nothing interesting in them that hasn't already been mentioned. I'd rather not bother with a full translation.

It would sure be nice for people that have never seen the original work. How long could it take? Like I said pages and pages ago, I'd really love for this movie to appeal to more than just Dragon Ball and general anime fans. Even Avengers confused some people with certain plot details lifted from previous Marvel films they may not have seen.

It would be nice, but I can't see it happening. These movies only get released theatrically in Japan since the Japanese fans are the only people who go see these movies which is why they always tend to go direct to video here in the US. Not to mention these movies never work on their own, so a movie like Fusion Reborn would have bombed badly if it was given a major released here in the US. It would be too much work to make a movie to appeal people outside the fan base.

How badly I can't wait for the magazines to come back from break...even the 2ch thread is just talking about in-universe stuff in lieu of news atm. (Though there was a funny bit earlier in that 2ch thread talking about Bulma and Vegeta's relationship, Vegeta having moé points, what sort of name a fusion of 18 and Videl would have, and more people thankful this isn't the 4th Brolli movie.) I'm just trying to hang in here and be patient while I wait for a movie-news update.
