What I want to know is how anyone that decides to refer to Goku as Kakarrot can not lump themselves in with the term "super fan".

And besides, some people don't like the film. So? If you like it, how is it that anybody else's opinion matters? I don't share your view on the film, but that doesn't mean I need to cut you off into some derogatory "them" group, a la "you Evolution lovers".

Whoa whoa whoa... don't you ever try to name another group of fans the "super fans" again!

There's only one group worthy of that name, Da Bears!

Oh, like the “dubbies” moniker is used with all the love and respect in the world. Earlier in this thread or one other JAPPO was spoken of as not being “true fan of Dragonball” because he posted information concerning the movie. Now if he is labeled that for just talking about the movie only the gods know what I would be called for actually liking the film and desiring a sequel. Concerning the “Kakarrot” thing, the “super fans” constantly attempts to correct me by screaming ‘his name is “Goku”!!’ On top of that, the Japanese only folks act as if they have the final say on all things Dragonball related (they are usually the ones that dislike the movie as well). I am just voicing my opinion, or is us dubbies/"Evolution lovers" not allowed to do so?
The Saiyans are very much like the Klingons and Jem'Hadar.

What's wrong with calling him Kakarotto?

Nah. They were pretty dogmatic about it several months ago, but they've stopped now, right?

Nothing wrong with it, Rod. At worst, I found it slightly confusing at the start, but after learning of the reasoning behind it (Professor and his dad called Goku 'Kakarrot' because he was introduced as such by Radditz at the beginning of DBZ and they liked the name, and his continued usage of the name is partially in honor of his late father), I think it's really nice.

Oh, and "dubbies" vs. "subbies"... those are simply terms to describe people that prefer anime in English, or those who prefer watching it subtitled. Neither one is considered an insult by default, it depends on the context and the person using the term.

I just saw the movie, and it was actually worse than I thought.
I won't call you anything in particular, but in case you're over, say, 12, I think you really need to watch more movies. Really.

What the fuck is that supposed to mean? Because better movies exist that means we can't enjoy "Evolution"? I've seen plenty of movies, so what?

JAPPO, dear, don't get too aggressive. We want this thread to reach 250 pages because that's what Kaboom wants.

I think he means his standards are to low believing it's good.

To be honest I thought it was OK as a normal movie, but as a DragonBall movie, it sucks

I've never been a fan of the "They called me names first" defense, and I've never made any such comment about you. it's just not relevant, really.

Nothing, apparently, looking at the past few pages and the complete lack of any such name-calling.
Concerning the “Kakarrot” thing, the “super fans” constantly attempts to correct me by screaming ‘his name is “Goku”!!’ On top of that, the Japanese only folks act as if they have the final say on all things Dragonball related (they are usually the ones that dislike the movie as well).
I only watch the Japanese version, I only consider the Japanese version Dragon Ball. I didn't like the film, either. Doesn't exactly mean that I have to say "All you Evolution-lovers" like it's some sort of "Me VS You" issue.
I am just voicing my opinion, or is us dubbies/"Evolution lovers" not allowed to do so?
I'm fine with your opinions about Evolution. I don't agree with them, but whatever, you can think whatever you want about a movie I personally think isn't any fun to watch. But it's just starting with lumping all those who dislike the film into a derogatory group and then saying their only goal is to come in and be snotty and ruin your fun, that's where I have a point of contention. It's the same issue I have with anybody who goes and makes snide remarks about JAPPO's interest in the film, acting as though his enjoyment of Evolution invalidates his dislike of anything else Dragon Ball.

"Us" vs "Them" just doesn't make for a good community, is all.

In all honesty, Goku himself would probably tell you the exact same thing.

One that is closer to the source material than Evolution. I mean, don't get me wrong, I LOVED Evolution. I really did. I think it was "perfectly cheesy" and I mean that in a good way.

...but in all honesty...it isn't really much like the source material. I mean, there are a lot of things that are like the original, but there are a lot more and probably more important things that are different.

I'd like to think of it as an "Ultimate" version of Dragonball. Ya know, like Ultimate Spiderman.

Doesn't 'ultimate' imply some sort of superiority, though? The only way in which Dragon Ball Evolution is superior to the main series is that it does a better job of putting me to sleep.

What I mean, is that to me, it doesn't "feel" like DragonBall it feels like to much has changed.
Have you ever watched Catwoman? A lot of people say it's only Catwoman in name only because to much has changed. Sure, it's not the same case here because even though they changed a lot, it's nowhere near as much as in Catwoman.

Take Goku for example he barely resembles his Manga/Anime counterpart

That's kind of what I mean. Ultimate Spiderman is great, but when you read it, you can tell that it isn't like the original. Lots of things are similar, but there are also some things that are different.

For instance, I don't really like the huge, muscular (Hob?)Goblin in Ultimate Spiderman.
