How come they didn't bring Gohan to fight Kid Buu?

Goku doesn't want to take the risk with Gohan, but Goku takes the risk himself when he fights Pure Boo.Draken wrote:Difference between not wanting to take the risk and not trusting.

Goku thinks the odds that Gohan would get absorbed again are greater than the odds that the Genkidama would fail (even though the Genkidama is way more risky IMO). The worst is that he said "they can fight" instead of "they can beat Boo", implying that he didn't believe in their victory even before the idea of the genkidama was brought up.

He doesn't trust his son anymore.
And he never showed that sort of mistrust, like "That Gohan idiot got absorbed ! But I won't be absorbed, because I'm more experienced", or "Oh, I know ! You’ll bring Gohan and Gotenks back to life so they can get absorbed again."
Re: How come they didn't bring Gohan to fight Kid Buu?
You and Amuro accuse us of using the same evidence and points over and over again then you go and do the exact same thing =/. Dude the "they can fight" thing is so old, and so many points have been brought up to counter it already, and you bring it back again? It's been said many times why Goku chose the words "they can fight" and not "they can beat".Pan-Pan wrote:Goku doesn't want to take the risk with Gohan, but Goku takes the risk himself when he fights Pure Boo.Draken wrote:Difference between not wanting to take the risk and not trusting.

I think too much stock is being put into that one tiny line, regardless of how it's interpreted. Win, lose, draw, get absorbed, and "needlessly fart around until your fusion runs out" are all possible outcomes of "to fight."
If Goku said, "they could beat Boo for us" or "maybe with them helping we could stand a chance" or something like that, then maybe you could read more into it. But saying they'd show up "to fight" is about as vague as it gets.

I agree wholeheartedly. I think AT just loves being as vague as he can possibly be so nerds like us can argue over his manga decades after it's overKaboom wrote:I think too much stock is being put into that one tiny line, regardless of how it's interpreted. I think it's sort of that, but not exactly. I think he likes being vague because it's easier to avoid plotholes that way. You leave yourself outs by being vague.Draken wrote:I think AT just loves being as vague as he can possibly be so nerds like us can argue over his manga decades after it's over
...That's probably considered lazy writing, but this is the guy who invented a whole new way of doing a weekly manga just so he could procrastinate for most of his week, so yeah.

Never bought any of the out of universe explanations, too cheap and cheesy even for dragonball
Re: How come they didn't bring Gohan to fight Kid Buu?
If they brought Gohan to come fight this would be the scenario...
*Instant transmits to Earth grabs Gohan comes back*
Vegeta: Kakarot you're ruining the plot, let Hercule have more limelight!
*Buu tries to punch Gohan*
*Gohan exhales towards Buu*
*Ginyu transformation music starts playing*
*Buu is disintegrated*
Not much of a climatic ending, huh?
