He did. I've been trying to tell him the names would be separate since God Mission 1 went live and Goku's new "Saiyan surpassing God" form was revealed to be the first of the Goku card's dual transformation mechanic, but he kept insisting they would be the same thing and the forms would just be swapped out after the 18th. Doesn't really matter now though.

I don't see anything implying that. That's not how the dual mechanic and marketing works. You don't spoil the secret in advance by plastering the the new hype's name on the product. The card has the mechanic allowing for multiple transformations and the second of which was meant to be a secret. So the card allows Goku to transform into the "Saiyan surpassing God" form and after the 18th, Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan will be unlocked even though it remains unadvertised on the card itself beyond the ? in the transformation box. This is exactly how Super Saiyan God was handled with Heroes back when Battle of Gods was being promoted.
This GM7 card allowed Goku to transform into Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan 3, but unadvertised on the card is the fact that it contained a third, secret transformation allowing Goku to reach Super Saiyan God.

lol Also showcases SSJ3 Goku using Spirit Bomb in the artwork. I just find it funny how in earlier Dimps games when you're SSJ or higher you use Dragon Fist instead of Spirit Bomb. Ah good times...
But whatever, at the end of day, if you turn out to be correct, I will give you a proper apologize.
I didn't say what I said to be right and/or for you to be wrong. I said it to clear things up, since a lot of confusion seems to be coming from all kinds of made-up names that are floating around.
EDIT: Checked the link you posted. To further clarify, the term being used there is "strength beyond a god" which is refering to neither form. Then Goku says in the video that the blue form is "a form beyond Super Saiyan God", which actually helps the Super Saiyan God SS term explanation since we'd otherwise have "Saiyan beyond a god" and "Saiyan beyond a Super Saiyan God".
EDIT2: Going back and forth between saying "Saiyan beyond god" and "Saiyan beyond a god" (both without a capital G in god) because the word used there is Kami (神) and not the "God" (ゴッド) used in Super Saiyan God, making it an even more ambiguous term separate from both the Super Saiyan God and SSGSS terms.
Starting to get annoyed at how they're not really clarifying anything.

Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!
Spoiler:
Doctor. wrote:I've explained before, I'll just paraphrase myself.
Power levels establish tension and drama. People who care about them (well, people who care about them in a narrative) don't care about the big numbers or the fancy explosions. If you have character A who's so much above character B, who's the main character, you're gonna be left wondering how in the hell character B, the character we're supposed to care and root for, is going to escape the situation or overcome the odds. It makes us emotionally invested.
If character B doesn't escape the situation in a believable way that's consistent with previous events, then that emotional investment is gone. It was pointless tension, pointless drama made just to suck in the viewer. It has no critical value whatsoever. The audience is left believing that the author can just create whatever scenarios he wants and what happens to the characters is decided by whatever the author wants to happen, regardless of the events that happened in the story. Which, in fairness, is what happens, but the audience wants to be fooled. The audience wants to know that the world they're following has rules. That the world they're invested in isn't going to bend to external factors that are irrelevant to them.
An author can do whatever he wants with the characters, that's not false. But the author should also have the responsibility to make sure it fits in cohesively with the other events in the narrative he has created.
So anyway, are there actually new cards (in promos maybe) to reflect all this new stuff yet? There's still a few blanks on my charts and I haven't even bothered with these new transformations yet.
So far this is what I know is new and missing:
- Abo
- Cado
- Aka
- Miira
- Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Goku (is this a real title? oO)
- Gold Freeza
- Super Liang; San and Si Xing Longs
Not to mention those who never came in card form. Anyone else I'm missing?
Not really, though you also forgot "Saiyan who has surpassed god" Goku and Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Vegeta.
Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Goku is technically already released as part of the Resurrection F set in God Mission 1. His card has the mechanic for multiple transformations and the form will be unlocked on the card starting on the 18th. Though we don't have a card with art specifically for that form yet. On the other hand, Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Vegeta will be getting a promo in this month's V-Jump with art of the form.
Wonder if Vegeta will also eventually get the middle Super Saiyan God and "Sayan who has surpassed god" forms? Hmm...
PS, Mira only has a single "i".

I'm kinda having a hard time swallowing the "Saiyan who has surpassed God" form, since from what I gathered, it's just normal ass Goku in terms of looks. At least Ultimate Gohan has some visual differences.
Yeah it's just normal Goku in terms of appearance, but it's still technically still a form identified within the game the same as an "Unlock Potential" has been for characters like Gohan and Kuririn in the Budokai games. Not saying they couldn't have just made it base Goku with higher stats, but "meh"...
