Well shit. Everyone is so excited about the resume... and it actually seems pretty great.

But... I don't want the retelling of BoG. I had already taken the movies as a whole like they are. :C I'm actually getting all teary. I have been waiting 15 years for the continuation of the series and they just keep pushing back in the timeline. First we thought post-Rof... then Pre-RoF.... and now...

I'm really hoping Goten gets some good attention in Super. I'd love to see him evolve into his own character, imo in the buu saga I always saw him as an adorable little mini-me Goku and not as Goten, I hope that changes.

Also I'd love to see Trunks and Goten go Super Saiyan 2...it probably won't happen but I can dream.

As I can tell, in the japanese version Old Kaioshin said that he couldnt believe Beerus didnt destroy (Earth? or maybe anything? )
But if we go to the begining, they are all worried of how many planets will Beerus destroy this time and at the end they are all happy he didn't destroy...

They're talking about Earth, in the director's cut they specifically mention it a couple times..
they wonder if there is something about the planet itself.

though, I still wonder...
I know that they wouldnt reference Beerus destroying a planet before going to Earth since Super is made after BoG, but looking how happy they look at the end you get the idea that Beerus didnt destroy anything, or maybe thats just me

And of course, Beerus doing some good destruction. He never got to destroy anything in the movies!

In the extended battle of gods, he destroyed several planets after eating Wasabi.

He also did it in the theatrical version... but that was more for laughs than real work

Its not confirmed it will be a retelling.
I think it will just fill some gaps where there need to be more explanation and wont alter the main plot in the movies...

Anyway, to speculate a bit, the mention of Videl not yet being Goten's sister-in-law, and Goten looking for a gift who her, makes me wonder if we're going to be seeing Gohan and Videl's wedding. Since otherwise I'm not sure why Goten would be bothering to give her a gift. Maybe they'll even change the story around so that the wedding is the big event Beerus crashes?

Meanwhile, out in space Beerus is having a big meal prepared for him by the inhabitants of some planet scheduled for destruction (the idea apparently being that he'll spare the planet if he likes their food). The aliens poison the meal, but it doesn't work on Beerus. Ultimately Beerus destroys the planet as scheduled, but the name of one of the dishes (the "Soup Yasai Jinkot") rings a bell with him: it reminds him of the "Super Saiyan God" from his prophetic dream.

Wait, so... all the aliens are killed on-screen? Just like that? I mean, I know they aren't graphically slaughtered, but that's still... hilariously dark. The closest relative example I can think of is when Slug's subordinate says taking over Earth would take too long and Slug kills him on the spot in Movie 4.

It's not completely clear from the summary that got posted to 2ch, but Beerus apparently destroys their whole planet. So if nothing else, there's presumably an explosion of some sort.

Not that thrilled with where Super is to be placed in the timeline but, at least, Goten and Trunks still being kids became easier to accept. I wonder if they'll adapt the two movies into episodes or just take place in between them.

At this point, I think it's easier for Toriyama to retcon the end of the manga entirely.

I hope and don't hope this happens. One I'd like to see it retold and see what differences toriyama will make (like Jaco showing up sooner or something), but don't want it because...what'd be the point of the 2 movies (apart from getting DBZ some attention.)

A few more details:

Goten's off from school (since it's Sunday), and has brought his dad some bento. Goku has Goten drive the tractor while he eats the bento. Once it's finished, he turns into a Super Saiyan, then closes his eyes and imagines fighting Freeza/Cell/Pure Boo. While he does this, Goten drives off a cliff...so Goku saves Goten and the tractor (the tractor he throws back up to the top of the cliff). Goku says he's training in case someone strong like Boo ever turns up, but Chi Chi wants him to work (cue "mom's the real strongest in the universe" joke from Goten). Goten says grandpa Gyuumao is out of money, but Chi Chi thinks Goku ought to be able to get a job that would earn some money, like Mister Satan. Goku says he just likes to train.

And who should show up at that moment but Mister Satan himself (speak of the devil)? He wants Goku to have the 100 million zenny peace prize he received for beating Boo, since he doesn't feel he deserves it. Goku has to have it explained to him that 100 million zenny is 100,000 zenny one thousand times over. This freaks Goku out, and he doesn't want such an insane amount of money. Then of course he agrees when Goten points out that with the money, he wouldn't have to work and could just go to Kaio's to train.

With the Beerus/Whis stuff...I think I already covered everything. Beerus isn't terribly upset that the aliens try and kill him with poison (he mostly just thinks they're stupid for believing poison would work on him). Yet he still destroys their planet anyway, something he matter-of-factly announces ahead of time after trying their "Soup Yasai Jinkot"(the aliens then try and shoot him, but obviously that doesn't work either).

Goku and Goten having son and father boding time? this....is..... PERFECT!!!!!

I thought this was gonna be a bit of a let down for me with the setting being so much different than I originally expected, but after reading bits about this I'm actually really excited! Even more so than I was originally.

IIRC, someone earlier in the thread said that "Jinkot" is made up. I don't know know who exactly, but I'm inclined to believe that's the truth.

After re-reading, it's actually "Jinkot" (ジンコット), which seems to be a made-up word.
