Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.
I really hope they don't scrap SSJ. It was a huge part of what struck fear in Freeza's heart. I want to see Freeza vs Super Saiyan Goku/Vegeta, and not base forms. Unless transforming to SSJ in battle of gods really does nothing, and so Goku stopped transforming all together. Even so I don't want Super Saiyan to disappear.

Goku never transforms into a Super Saiyan. From the trailers, it seems that he's fighting in his black-haired form.
Gohan is fighting as a Super Saiyan, with no signs of his Ultimate power-up.
Man, what?
They mixed Goku up with Gohan....maybe...or Gohan said "Fuck this, this power up did jack before and does jack now. Here ya go dad."
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

Power levels establish tension and drama. People who care about them (well, people who care about them in a narrative) don't care about the big numbers or the fancy explosions. If you have character A who's so much above character B, who's the main character, you're gonna be left wondering how in the hell character B, the character we're supposed to care and root for, is going to escape the situation or overcome the odds. It makes us emotionally invested.
If character B doesn't escape the situation in a believable way that's consistent with previous events, then that emotional investment is gone. It was pointless tension, pointless drama made just to suck in the viewer. It has no critical value whatsoever. The audience is left believing that the author can just create whatever scenarios he wants and what happens to the characters is decided by whatever the author wants to happen, regardless of the events that happened in the story. Which, in fairness, is what happens, but the audience wants to be fooled. The audience wants to know that the world they're following has rules. That the world they're invested in isn't going to bend to external factors that are irrelevant to them.
An author can do whatever he wants with the characters, that's not false. But the author should also have the responsibility to make sure it fits in cohesively with the other events in the narrative he has created.
Is all this amazing trolling by Toriyama what it felt like to follow the series when it ran in Jump? Because this is amazing. XD

Also, someone needs to draw Freeza in that Rocky sweatsuit running up the art museum steps. X3
Or punching meat in a meat locker.
I nominate you.
Maybe you'll get Twitter-famous again.
I went to the Philly Art Museum a couple years ago, so I actually have photos from the top and bottom of those steps to work with. :3
Been away all day, but now that I'm back home I'll give it a shot.
How does Freeza train and become stronger then Buu? It seems like they would have to explain on how much stronger he became in a such little time. I would imagine Freeza uses some type of device to steal the power from Beerus.

Wasn't that due to FOX still having the rights, or something? Or am I just making that up in my sleep-deprived head?
they still have the rights, I think. My question is that now that they know a limited theatrical release of DBZ can be successful, will they be more eager to get the movie across the ocean and into a few more theaters?
I think it will be a limited release just like with BOG. Foreign movies always get limited releases expect for a few due to there is not a big market for them and Hollywood does not take them seriously. BOG did well for a limited release but the hype died out after a week since all of the fans (the target audience) seen it already.

If Freeza was as strong as he was without even a minute of training, imagine what just a little training would do for him. It took Goku a lifetime of training to defeat Freeza who never trained once.

Shit imagine if pure(Kid) Boo trained. That shit be scary. Wonder how Freeza trained though. He doesn't have a body..
I would imagine Freeza in this movie would be how Emperor Joke where The Joker got god powers by stealing the powers from Mr.Mxyzptlk. I was hoping Freeza became super strong by stealing Beerus powers and becomes the new god of destruction. They would use the Dragon Balls to wish back Beerus at the end of the movie since the universe needs him to keep balance.

Goku is much stronger then he was on Namek. Goku at SSj2 or SSj3 would kill Freeza in one punch. How would Freeza reach Buu saga power in such little time when he is weaker then #16-#17, Cell and almost anything after the Namek saga.
As for when though? I'd like to hope to see it on Monday, actually, but the odds are probably better on just saying "before the end of the year".
Toei had both this week's Sailor Moon Crystal and HaCha episodes sent out to be made over in their Philippines branch this weekend, so maybe the main Toei branch has more spare time to do trailer stuff this past week?

But we...already have the full trailer? It's been out for a while. It's on the official site and everything.

Thinking about it, Freeza is not only gonna train for the first time on his life, but also is gonna be the first villain in Dragon Ball that trains. Seems fair to me: if the good guys can train and power up, why not the villains? The only isuue i have with this is the possibility of him training in hell. I hope Toriyama remembers that he shouldn't be able to keep his body there...
