Re: New Animation VS Old Animation
I'm not talking about the new arc though. I'm just referring to what we have in front of us, atm. For all I know, that arc might change my entire outlook and make me fall in love with the series.
I do blame the Buu saga on a lot of things. But it was still more enjoyable than everything that came after it, and contained borderline dark comedy, which was interesting.
Fine, F is darker than most of Dragon Ball, but my point is that, so far, nothing we've gotten is any indication that they're going back to their roots.

"Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super
Re: New Animation VS Old Animation
Let's talk about the fight again. I thought the whole SS3 fight was miles better than the SS1 and SS2 portions and from the moment he fires his first Kamehameha, the animation from that point onward is really fluid and fast-paced, I have few complaints. Even in the SS2 portion of the fight, there were some passable scenes, very fluid scenes here and there that could have been better if the off-model characters weren't so noticeable; plus it had some very nice close-ups of SS2 Goku. The SS1 part of the fight was just trash, with no redeeming qualities though.

Laziness speaks for itself.

As you can see, the effort is heavily pushed into making this scene really enjoyable for viewers. It adds that overwhelming feeling of commitment and determination put into hard work for Vegeta.
Now what does super have to offer?
This quickly rushed disaster that gives off nothing but boredom.

Honestly guys, Super isn't all that special.

Nobody is saying that Super special. Hell, the original DB and Z anime had many awful animated moments too so I wouldn't exactly put it on a pedestal either.HybridSaiyan wrote:Honestly guys, Super isn't all that special.

I was merely referring to the scene in general, not in animation.Lord Beerus wrote:Nobody is saying that Super special. Posted that in DBS Episode 5 thread:

Oh god this a total garbage. Invert colors? for realsies? Now I have no doubt that this episode was made in MS Paint
This actually remember me of that:
If they want to show Goku with a shocked expression after he being knock out they could use something similar to that:
This totally express the terror and the pain the caracter was suffering, I think TOEI forgot what is Dragon Ball

Re: New Animation VS Old Animation

Here's a very quickly corrected sketch I made of that shot:

Only took about 3 minutes. This episode must have been EXTREMELY rushed.

3 minutes?! That's amazing, you did a great job! That really shows some pain on his face.Metalwario64 wrote:Here's a very quickly corrected sketch I made of that shot:

Other than that, the threat turned into something more like expressing our personal opinions and making them look like they were facts.

Actually looks legit and a million times better than Toei's version. Amazing job.Metalwario64 wrote:

Re: New Animation VS Old Animation
You know, I got the impression from that frame of the episode that they meant it to look "other worldly" to express how scary Beerus really is. Like they exaggerated his facial expression and made it negative to give off a "creepy" vibe, this shot follows Beerus' comment about how scary the God of Destruction is.HybridSaiyan wrote:Actually looks legit and a million times better than Toei's version. Re: New Animation VS Old Animation
I get the impression they wanted Goku to look as though Beerus stuck his planet-busting finger up his butt.

Wouldn't that look more like this:fadeddreams5 wrote:I get the impression they wanted Goku to look as though Beerus stuck his finger up his butt.

Most Dragon Ball fans are incapable of making a logically sound argument.

Re: New Animation VS Old Animation
This is a fan corrected version. Toei vs a Fan.

as much as there was bad animation in dbz too, we need to riot a bit, so the odds of a better version on blu ray increase.
Not only did it lacked good art, the animation was slow and lacked punch. I already tweeted Toei animation about this.

That is awesome! Here's my completed version of the SS3 Goku shot:

I didn't think that shot in Super was to express Pain, but Shock. He was KO'd by the touch.

Personally, I wasn't looking for an excuse. I was looking at the context of the image and why it was the way it was. Seems like it was the same with other people who defended it.VintageSaiyan wrote:The excuses people are making for that shot is hilarious.
Don't be like that, dude.
