I actually thought that was fake at first. The body seems like it's taken from a video game because there is so little detail in his armor as compared to the rest of him. Like I know I saw this picture somewhere before and to me it looked like a splicing of that picture and Vegeta's video game model (for one of the games). You know, like some people would put video game models for mock Season Set covers. Plus, as far as the DB Season 3 set goes, the top of the front has this really curvy thing in the background (the Kame logo) and none of the other sets have it looking like that. Though it could be because it was never exposed by the character before? I don't know, I just don't know. Either way, it won't bother me. The important thing is that they keep the picture on the side going (the one of Goku) because that's the way I'm going to see it on my shelves.
I despise the cover art for the DBOX. Just plain awful. Vegeta looks horrible, it doesn't even look Toriyama style at all. And of course the fact that it's set in the wrong Era.
I'm sorry, but I absolutely hate the art that goes along with the DBOX. It's not drawn in Toriyama style. To me, the perfect DragonBall release should encompass Toriyama art (Like the Kanzenban). I'll take the Season Set art over the DBOX art any day of the week (Yes, even cross eyed Vegeta from Season 1).
As for DB Season 3, I think that art kicks ass. Yes it doesn't match the Era. But in all honesty, I think certain characters deserve their due's on the DB Box Sets.

Vegeta looks like a friggin' Porcupine on the Dragon Box!

Not to be a pain in the ass, but could you point me to the right page of the thread where you have the first dragonbox? Id like to download that wallpaper.DemonRin wrote:As I did last time, I made a straight Mock-up of the DBox 2 Cover, so we can have a front shot without the weird perspective.
Also, since people liked it Last time, I made a wallpaper out of it. Let me know if anyone wants custom dimensions and/or custom text on the blank spots.

While I understand that's your opinion (which I have no problem with), I think it's worth pointing out that this is the anime, not the manga. And Toriyama did draw some art for the Dragon Boxes, just not the box art. They had Nakatsuru Katsuyoshi draw the cover art because he's a veteran animator that worked on the anime for years. I personally think he did a pretty good job, since it's pretty close to Vegeta in the anime during that time, but with a little more detail and a darker skin tone.Gozar wrote:I despise the cover art for the DBOX. I guess if you like the computer drawn digital art look, but that's just not my thing when it comes a shown not drawn with computers. Do you even prefer the box art that's completely out of place on the Season Sets?Gozar wrote:I'll take the Season Set art over the DBOX art any day of the week (Yes, even cross eyed Vegeta from Season 1).

The vast majority of the time, I'm looking at the spine of my Dragonbox or I'm watching an episode. So, whatever. I just hope that it's not random and we end up seeing first form Cell or kid Gohan on Buu Box 6 or 7.
If Freeza makes the next box, everything'll be cool up to that point.
Maybe...
#3: Freeza (85-126)
#4: Cell (127-168)
#5: Gohan (169-210)
#6: Piccolo (211-252)
#7: Super Saiyan Goku (253-291)
Sure, some of these are the wrong era, but it was the best fit I could think of since they already used Vegeta. If they didn't use Vegeta already, I'd say use Gohan now, put Vegeta on #4, and put Cell on #5.

It's nice to see that picture laid out on an American Box.
Opinions as to using a different Vegeta pic: Nope. If it wasn't on the original Dragon Box, then I guarantee it won't/almost shouldn't be on these box sets.
Wrong timeframe Vegeta thing: Yeah well... it's Funimation. They have to screw something up, no matter how minuscule it is, such as coverart. It doesn't matter though. It's what's inside that counts? lol
The Roshi one is cool, but I'm waiting for a Dragonball Dragon Box, so I don't really care about the Blue Bricks.

They definitely would not release a Dragon Ball Dragon Box until the "blue bricks" are done. You're gonna wait another year for that one. And then two years or so to complete the series. That's even if they got the rights for Dragon Ball from Toei. They paid a lot of money for the DBZ Dragon Box and we don't know if they did the same for DB or DBGT.
And hey, if we're going to be nitpicky, which is actually how I am approaching the cover art as well...IT'S NOT THE RIGHT VEGETA *deep breaths*, the first Dragon Box also has a picture from the wrong time period. The symbol that Goku has is the one he had when he already got to Namek.

Yes I know that. While I wait for that though, I slowly work on saving money for the next Z Dragon Box.
By then, we should/might know if Funimation is doing any more Dragon Boxes. If not, well, all of the Blue Bricks will still be out, all 5 will have been released, and they'll all be nice and cheap.
The series isn't possible as an impulse buy for me, so I don't mind the waiting and planning ahead.
