Which, clearly, makes you a far grander and righteous anime fan than anyone else on the planet.

Replace "Dragon Ball character" with "sports figure" and let's talk again.

I'm of the mindset that naming a child after anything that's nothing more than a "personal like" (as in something that you are interested in) probably isn't the best way to go. What if you change your mind on that person/place/thing? Suddenly you've got a child to eternally remind you of it :P.

Yeah that is true, but the saddest truth about this is that I see this happen more often with children named after parent's best friends or relatives and then they have a name that the parent can't stand anymore.

I'm not that much of a jock.

This is fun, let's do another! :P

(Just for the record I'm not really an anime "fan". I don't care much for a lot of the giant gooey eyed melodrama.)

It isn't a real life name and is pretty weird.
I can think of much weirder names.
Apple. Comfort. Dreama. Nimrod. Scholastica.

And yes, those are all real names.

Actors? Singers? Video game characters? Movie/novel characters? :P

Ya know I always found it funny that Nimrod gets used often as an example of a bad name. The name is actually from the bible and the person was actually very wise and respectable. Anywho, can anybody think of anymore names that could be considered acceptable in today's terms from the DB universe? I'm drawing a blank as of right now.

Whiskers the Wonder Cat :D .
Actions have reactions so don't be quick to judge, you may not know the hardships that people don't speak of.

I've got ye big ol' list of names in the USA over the twentieth century (with numbers for popularity in each decade...). Let's see what we can come up with?

"Assunta", "Astrid", "Athena", "Beryl", "Bienvenido", "Blanca", "Blossom", "Boyd", "Brain", "Gay", "Gaylord", "Genesis", "Geo", "Gunner", "Heaven", "Hildegrad", "Hildegarde", "I", "Infant", "Isadore", "Kyler"(I think I like this one! :) ), "Lavada", "Leif", "Lempi" (the closest I could find to "Lemmy"...), "Les", "Luz", "Lyric", "M", "Madge", "Mateo" (I think that sounds coolish...), "Miracle", "N" (I think each letter made the list...), "Nan" (<Insert programming joke here>), "Noe" (How would one pronounce that?), "Nova", "Novella", "Nya", "Onie" (Um, there are some of those in DBZ?), "Ora" (Goku calls himself this all the time!), "Oral", "Oran", "Oren", "Orie", "Orin", "Pansy" ("Curse of the blood rubies"?), "Patience", "Ransom", "Roel" (Awe, at first I thought it was a Megaman reference. :( ), "Rory"...
And of course the obligatory seasons and Biblical names.
Didn't have enough time to go through the list, but "Zelda" is in there, at least.

Oh, I know it's biblical and all of that. Doesn't change the fact it's a bad name, even baring the 'idiot' connotations it has these days.

As for DB names I could see being used in the real world, I'm thinking it depends about on language and culture. For instance, here in the states I could see Mai, Marron, Maron, Videl, Jeice/Jheese/whatever, Goten, and Mark being used and not really even raising eyebrows (aside from name recognition, with the exception of Mark being wholly overlooked).

Meanwhile Tien (dub name, but meh, still applicable IMO) could be used over in Vietnam (or was it Korea?) without issue because is is a name there.

Personally, though, I'd rather just invent my own names. They're always much better than existing ones or ones from some series. Not that there's the slightest chance I'll ever have any kids anymore, but yeah.

I'm naming my kid Roel now. Roel Ukog -Insert Last Name Here-, a fine name.

The most appropriate names: Mark, Penni, Marron...Videl, Goten, Hercule, Sno, Gohan, and Mai.

The least appropriate names: Bra, Mr. Satan, Ox King, Freezer.

On a relate note, my cat's name is Korin. I wonder if that name's filtered? Lately upgraded to King Korin. I call him Karin-chan sometimes.

My old cat's name is Majin Blue. My nephew named him Blue. I thought he said Buu, and since the cat has an M on his forehead, he must be Majin Buu, but since he actually said Blue, he was Majin Blue.

Our old dog was The Champ(short for That's Mister Champ), and while not named for Mr. Satan, he always responded when the people would chant for "The Champ" on the dbz dub tapes we'd watch.
